Does anyone know exactly how the rule is written?
The article states that anyone who goes to the groundor uses the ball as a prop is subject to a penalty. Will it be a penalty if a guy dives across the goal line and is already on the ground when he begins his celebration? Will it be a penalty if a guy takes a knee in prayer after scoring?
Another article I read said that players will have to do their celebrating with 2feet on the ground. Does that mean the Lambeau Leap is now a penalty?
In my personal opinion, who cares? As long as the celebrations are tasteful and not directly taunting the other team, who cares? Some of the dances and celebrations are actually quite funny. I don't understand why the NFL constantly feels the need to reinforce their reputation as the No Fun League.

I have a feeling that you, being a Dallas fan, don't want to have to think about getting those penalties once TO starts showing off when he scores TDs.

if the opposing defense doesn't get [censored]ed at the celebration, neither should the NFL. Throw a flag when it is clearly taunting or something off-color.
Also glad to see the NFL is implementing it's plan to cut down on contact yet again  (ie it's now illegal to hit below a QB the knee with driving force).

Is it also illegal for the QB to break a non-driving-force-below-the-knee-tackle attempt and run? I mean, if a defensive player is not allowed to make a full effort to tackle the guy, or he has to let up before hitting him, the guy being tackled shouldn't be allowed to take off and run.

The only problem with that is you open the can of worms of what is off color and what isn't. I agree with what they have done. They have made it cut and dry what you can do and what you can't. I don't mind spiking the ball or dunking it over the cross bar but it makes me wanna puke when these guys act like they have never been in the endzone before. Spike the ball and get off the field. When you spend time before the game deciding what you will do if you will score I hate it. That is what I would like to see removed from football. Screw the penalty, hit em in the pocket.
We need some more Barry Sanders in the league.
Right now these guys are all attention whores (wheres that picture Thump?) LOOK AT ME... LOOK AT ME !!!!

Agreed....I think some of these rules are going to cross to other sports as well. For instance there is talk of MLB making a rule that a runner on first base must alert the second baseman that he is going to attempt a steal so there is no chance of him being accidently cleated in the shin... Also in NASCAR they are going to require all cars have turn signals and break lights to keep the fender benders down. Point being these guys know the risks and they are being paid WELL for taking them. These rules protecting the quarterback are getting ridiculous. Whats next? Flags?
