Casserly Resigns as Texans' GM

Charley Casserly announced his resignation yesterday as general manager of the Houston Texans, indicating that he wanted to pursue a job in the league office.
Casserly met with Texans owner Bob McNair , then told other team officials of his decision.

Casserly, the former general manager of the Washington Redskins, was hired by McNair in 2000 to run the expansion franchise, and he assembled the team that played its first game in 2002. The club went 4-12 in its opening season, then improved to five wins in 2003 and seven in 2004. But with expectations growing, the Texans slumped to a league-worst two victories last season, leading to coach Dom Capers 's dismissal.
It was clear that Casserly's influence within the organization was dwindling when McNair brought in former NFL coach Dan Reeves to assist in the search for a new coach, which resulted in the hiring of Gary Kubiak . McNair said after the Texans used the top overall selection in the NFL draft on North Carolina State defensive end Mario Williams that Kubiak had been the one to decide to take Williams over Southern California tailback Reggie Bush .
The Houston Chronicle reported that the candidates to succeed Casserly could include former Atlanta Falcons executive Ron Hill , Denver Broncos assistant GM Rick Smith and Green Bay Packers director of pro personnel Reggie McKenzie .

I disagree, but then again I never liked Bush, and Houston has a 1000 yrd rusher (Davis) and 2 Big name receivers (Moulds, and Johnson). Did they really need a speedy Kick returner? He is talented, but College is way different than the NFL. The defenses are bigger stronger faster, and I know Ill catch some flack but come on, it was PAC 10 Defenses? Do they even play defense in the PAC 10? He was never asked to carry the full load so we don't know if he can take an NFL beating, running more then 20 carries a game.

He may end up being a star, but only one #1 overall pick at RB has been in a SB. IMO, RB is the easiest position to scout and transition to the NFL. It is more about the OL, than it is the RB. I don't know that Mario Williams would have been my pick (it made sense) but I thought D-Brick would have helped immensely

You can't be serious. The Saints have said over and over that they are going to use Bush on offense even with Deuce in the game. USC was able to make it work, I'm sure the Saints can figure it out. Bush is more versatile than you give him credit for.

Ah yes, I guess Reggie Bush is the only draft prospect ever faced with this issue. So are the offensive tackles that Mario Williams will go up against no bigger, stronger, and faster than those he faced in college?

Now, you are free to argue that Texas is also a crappy defense.

Why does he have to? He is so versatile in what he can do, that it would be a waste to just pound him. He averaged 21.7 touches a game last year (rushing, receiving, and returning) .

Like I said, I'm not saying he is a bad player, just that IMO, It all starts at the Line. Lets see how he does w/o an all star O-Line.

IMO OL and DL are more Imp. Who's to say that De Angelo or Moroney, or White wont be better in the long run. I just get tired of people condemning a pick before they have even seen the NFL field. Who's to Bush isn't all Hype either? Lets see what happens on the field before declaring Bush the greatest player to ever lace up cleats (not saying you are of this opinion)
