CANTON When Franco Harris lifted a deflected pass just off the Three Rivers Stadium turf on Dec. 23, 1972, he brought with it more than just a touchdown.
Harris elevated a franchise and raised the hopes of a city desperately in need of it.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are celebrating their 75th season in the NFL this fall. After long years of hard times in western Pennsylvania both on and off the football field, people can point to Harris? Immaculate Reception as the moment it all turned around.
?The thing about 1972 was there was no buildup to it. There wasn?t any anticipation,? Harris said. ?Nobody in their wildest dreams thought we?d be one game from the Super Bowl.?

Sepulveda says he posted time of 4.43 seconds when running the 40-yard dash for NFL scouts this past spring. That's faster than either of the two linebackers the Steelers drafted with their first two picks this year, Lawrence Timmons and LaMarr Woodley.

PITTSBURGH -- When the Pittsburgh Steelers go on the road, their equipment managers get filet mignon, even if it must be eaten on plastic plates.
There is water, water everywhere. And nobody asks for a suite, not even owner Dan Rooney. But Rooney gets foam pillows only -- no down pillows are allowed.
The Steelers' 17-page hotel contract rider that lists their requirements down to the tiniest detail was leaked to the Web site The Smoking Gun this week. The NFL regular season hasn't started yet, but the Steelers have played two road exhibition games.

Steelers acquire kick returner Rossum from Falcons for draft pick

PITTSBURGH (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers acquired cornerback-kick returner Allen Rossum from the Atlanta Falcons on Saturday for a conditional 2008 draft pick. Rossum, a 2005 Pro Bowl player as a return specialist, holds Falcons team records for kickoff and punt return yards and also had two punt return touchdowns. The former Notre Dame player broke into the NFL as a third-round pick with Philadelphia in 1998 before being traded to Green Bay in 2000. He signed with Atlanta as a free agent in 2002.
