Ravens acquire Bills RB McGahee to replace Lewis Posted by Tony Grossi March 08, 2007 12:01PM Categories: Breaking News The Baltimore Ravens wasted no time in replacing running back Jamal Lewis, who signed a one-year deal with the Browns Wednesday night. Baltimore has completed a trade with Buffalo for Willis McGahee. An announcement will be made later this afternoon, said a league source. McGahee, 25, is two years younger than Lewis, but far less accomplished. McGahee missed his 2003 rookie season after major surgery to fix a torn knee ligament suffered in Miami's 2003 Fiesta Bowl loss to Ohio State. Since then, McGahee has rushed for 1,128, 1,247 and 990 yards. |

Will running back Willis McGahee have a productive season?
No one knows about McGahee. When the mind is right and the body is healthy, McGahee is one of the best running backs in the NFL. His offseason work habits, though, have to improve. McGahee might be the Ravens' biggest bust acquisition in team history, as he signed a seven-year, $40 million contract in March 2007 after the Ravens had traded three draft picks to the Buffalo Bills for him. If the Ravens could, I think they would fast-forward his exit right out of Baltimore. Entire article: The Ravens: 10 things you'll want to know -- baltimoresun.com |

How is that a bust? McGahee was a sub 4.0 ypc guy in Buffalo. The "bust" tag should be saved for players that could have been reasonably expected to get better than slightly below average production. It was just a dumb move on the Ravens' part.
