Greatest offense in NFL history
Who ya got?
Give me the '99 Rams "The Greatest Show on Turf". The way they came out of nowhere was ridiculous. A no-name QB(Warner), Faulk, Bruce, Holt, Az-Hakim and the lot were just sick and a ton of fun to watch. I got to watch the next few incarnations from 2000-2003 while living in St. Louis, but none lived up to the original. That group was unbelievable.
Honorable mention to 1998 Minnesota, 1984 Miami, 1983 Washington, 1981 Chargers, 1992 Cowboys and 1984 Niners.

An emotional attachment to the '98 Vikings - two Buckeyes (Carter and Smith) provided a lot of the catches and yards - though Moss received most of the headlines.
A tip of the hat to the '84 Dolphins - they were the greatest show on natural grass, before the dome-dwelling Rams were given the Barnum & Bailey like moniker. Besides which there was something just too overboard with that "Greatest Show on Turf" nickname, I was always wondering what would happen if the Rams had to play in less speed-friendly confines - like, say mud.
But, for my money the '84 49ers were one of the most polished and machine-like offenses I have seen. I think they get shorter thrift because of the value placed on their defense - and it is true that this was a beautifully balanced team, ranked top 2 on O and #1 on D. Besides which, they unseated that top-ranked '84 Phins Offense head-to-head in the Super Bowl.
