Coughlin's tactics, agree or disagree
Reports are that he just fined Hand for not wearing a tie on the team bus. That, in addition to his 5 minutes early rule has me wondering whether this disciplinarian will get results with his methods. Personally , I think the players will either channel that resentment and frustration and take it out on opponents, or they will implode 4-12 style..

I have heard that the players are already filing grievances w/ the union, and that the grievances will be upheld. That 5 minute early thing is ridiculous-you set a schedule for a reason.

That is great for high school, college, or if this was 25-30 years ago. These types of tactics won't last in today's me first, prima-donna NFL...

I was thinking the same thing. These guys make too much money to be told that they have to be 5 minutes early. The tie I can understand becuase it's dress code... it's hard to argue that. I don't think it would effect the teams on field performance... unless someone in the lockerroom is making a huge fuss over it and mkes it a distraction.

True story- that dickhead tried to fine two Jaguar players for being late to a meeting when they had been in a car wreck!!

It's got nothing to do with players being prima donna's(they pretty much are) this guys just out of control. His bull[censored] would no more fly in the real world than in the NFL. NY made a huge mistake hiring him, no one down here could believe he got a second chance.

I think a coach needs to understand the difference between exuberance/individuality, and mental sloppiness that loses you games. Chad Johnson is a great example of this-he dances like crazy after TDs-but only if the TD ties the game, or the Bengals are ahead. He sets aside fine money for his dances, but he also sleeps in the stadium once or twice a week because he is working on stuff so long. He loves football so much he goes to Elder and LaSalle games on Friday nights. I'm sure he would butt heads w/ Coughlin, but Marvin and he understand each other completely....
