Dwayne Jarrett Is Trojans' New Star
Dwayne Jarrett Is Trojans' New Star
Quote:
LOS ANGELES - Dwayne Jarrett came West with a reputation for catching passes that produced great expectations at Southern California. After dealing with homesickness and some difficulty hanging on to the football, the lanky freshman is emerging as the Trojans' latest star.

Jarrett made his first collegiate start a success Saturday, catching five passes for 139 yards and three touchdowns to help No. 1 USC overpower previously unbeaten Arizona State 45-7.
"It was a great day for Dwayne," USC coach Pete Carroll said. "He's over the hump — he's not a pup anymore. He's not just out there competing, he's making plays."
Jarrett, who turned 18 last month, was the New Jersey offensive player of the year at New Brunswick High a year ago, scoring 26 touchdowns including all three in his school's 21-14 state championship victory.

What's up guys. Newbie here. I wasn't sure if this was the currect place to post this.
Anyway. Didn't we almost get this kid at OSU? Man, what a miss.

Yeah, we just missed out on him. In fact, some people believe he was a "silent" verbal to OSU before signing with USC. He's gonna be a great one for the rubbers.

In a chat over on BN, Bill Conley stated that Jarrett did indeed give a silent verbal to osu.

He told OSU he was comming and the next day bailed to USC... I'd love to play them in a championship game and crush them... (same with Auburn with the verbals we had from some of their guys, who then changed their mind on NLOI day)...

well until we start winning games I highly doubt we could hang with USC, and Auburn. Man do I wish he was a buckeye, but hey the kid did a very smart thing. Now maybe when we get a OC we'll start putting up the numbers but until then we'll always be horrid on Offense.
