I was serious - I didn't know in which way you meant, as in Long should have done more or he shouldn't be lifting as much as Vernon.

I personally wasn't surprised that either of them got 37 - they're both freakish. Jake Long is very lean for an OL, but comparing him to big vern is apples and oranges.

Also, ask the "average person" who they think would bench more between an OL and a DE, and I'm sure most would just assume the OL...

Again, Henne is a better pro prospect based on what? His extra 15 or so pounds? Brennan has been playing in a pro-style offense under the direction of a former pro quarterback and pro quarterbacks and head coach.

Would you argue Pat White is a better pro-prospect than Brian Brohm b/c he is #2 on that list...would you argue Brennan is a better prospect than Brohm b/c he is #3. Again, Troy Smith was listed as a pre-season first teamer in all sorts of mags but got taken in the 5th round

On top of that you say Hawaii runs a pro-style offense which isn't the case...they run a wide open attack in which they throw the ball primarily out of shotgun (in fact I'd be likely to call it a run and shoot).....again, wininging the ball around isn't the equivalent of a pro-style offense even though June Jones used to be a NFL coach....does any team in the NFL run the run and shoot anymore outside the 2 minute drill?

Michigan's offense is a much better example of a pro-style offense

Chad Henne also has Michigan's pedigree for producing quarterbacks working for him

And again, yes Hennes frame and size will be a major selling point for him....do you not remeber the scouts drooling over Jamracus Russel's and Brady Quinn's size.......I know Colt is a mere 15 lbs lighter, but it looks like a lot more, as Brennan looks pretty slender ....I know it sounds like a minor point, but come a month beofre the draft, all we'll hear about is Henne's NFL ready body

Longer arms mean more difficulty in bench presses. Thus the surprise that Vern didn't beat Long.

And you're changing the question...you put those two in swim trunks so that people go only by physique and every one of them would say that Vern woud lift more. Position has nothing to do with it...

Long is also 50 pounds heavier than Vern. Thus me not being so surprised that Vern didn't beat Long. I would also imagine that Long has more to "bounce" his bench back up with than Vern.

Anyone who has done a lot of benching in the past will also factor in that length of arm plays a heavy factor on reps. If Long has arms that are longer than Gholsten's that means that he is actually doing more work per rep. I used to work at a gym, and also benched a lot during my football days. We had some smaller guys who had shorter wing spans who could hang with the taller guys when it came to benching.

Risers Andre Woodson, QB -- Kentucky
Woodson turned in a solid performance under a microscope in Lexington. He ran the 40 in 4.86 seconds and looked physically imposing. Woodson threw the ball well and was accurate with his passes. Scouts said it was obvious the Kentucky signal-caller has been working on his throwing mechanics since the Senior Bowl. He was late with a few passes and also underthrew a number of deep passes. But overall, Woodson came away with solid grades.
David Roach, Safety -- TCU
...Paul Hubbard, WR -- Wisconsin
Hubbard significantly improved on his combine performance. He scorched the track with 40 times that clocked between 4.38 to 4.45 seconds, a full .15 faster than his runs in the RCA Dome. His vertical jump was also at least six inches better. Hubbard kept the momentum going by turning in a terrific pass-catching workout.

Calais Campbell, Defensive End -- Miami (Fla.) Campbell chose not to compete on the bench press, which surprised many after his poor performance at the combine (16 repetitions). He tried to better his 40 time, yet ran an uninspired 5.06 seconds.
Kenny Phillips, Safety -- Miami (Fla.)
Philips decided not to run as he and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, decided to stick with the 40 times from the combine, which averaged in the 4.5 area.
