Bill Parcells actually keeps that #1 pick? Not a chance.
I can see the Tuna possibly working a deal with the Cowboys and trading his #1 pick for their two picks in the first round. Not sure how the value points would work out but I agree that Parcells will not keep the 1st pick.

Plus you have to remember that teams do draft what they need and who they value - exactly as jlb stated earlier.

Kevin Smith USF is going pro.

As is Kansas' CB Aqib Talib who returned an INT for a TD in the Jayhawks' Orange Bowl victory.

Surprising, considering he seemed set to stay not too long ago.

I think that Smith would have definitely benefitted from another year in college to make a bigger name for himself, and to develop further.

The mileage Smith has already gotten is more than most rookies get in the NFL. Seriously, he cannot take the risk of being injured when he gets as many touches as he does.

He'll probably be a high second rounder/3rd round pick....I say it's worth coming out now while his stock is somehwhat high and he's pretty healthy

Is it just me, or was anyone else not too impressed with Talib? I watched Kansas play a few times this year and he was burned multiple times for big gains. He made a couple nice plays, but I didn't see anything outstanding. I'm no DB talent scout, but he just didn't look as good as I expected.

I've heard multiple people say that they wouldn't be surprised if Gholston was the #1 overall pick with a good combine performance. This is just speculation on various forums, but it is an interesting thought.

Another player enters the NFL Draft.

Tony Temple Mizzou RB was hopeful that the NCAA would grant a medical redshirt based on his season ending injury in 2004.

He learned today that was not going to happen
.

Temple joins a reasonably deep field of running backs in the 2008 Draft.

Missouri RB Tony Temple ends appealm readies for NFL draft
By TROY SCHULTE, For The Associated Press
January 29, 2008
COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Tony Temple's career at Missouri is over, after all.
Temple announced Tuesday he will give up on any further appeals for an extra year of eligibility and get ready for the NFL draft.

"It's time to move on and focus on doing what I need to do to make a positive impression for the next level," Temple said in a statement released through the school.
Temple played in one game as a freshman in 2004, carrying six times for 13 yards in a loss at Nebraska before injuring his Achilles' tendon. Because of the short stint, Missouri coach Gary Pinkel was hopeful he might be granted an extra year of eligibility.
The request was turned down earlier this month by the Big 12. Temple has dropped his appeal to the NCAA.

We need a new mock to discuss, with updated ealy entries.

My teams - Browns : need to get in their and pick a prostar. Somebody to draw interest after trading Anderson.

Niners : anyone but RB and LB. I would love to see Brohm (cause his stock slipped enough to warrent a cheap contract), or trade out and pick up 2 second rounders (netting a reciever and Dline)

(CFN)

1. Miami Dolphins - Glenn Dorsey, DT LSU
The team needs a foundation to build on. A high-character block in the middle is a great place to start.

2. St. Louis Rams - Chris Long, DE Virginia
The Rams will do everything possible to trade down for more picks. Someone will try to make a deal to grab McFadden.

3. Oakland Raiders - Darren McFadden, RB Arkansas
Justin Fargas is a good-looking producer, but he can't stay healthy. Al Davis takes McFadden and ditches a slew of mediocre backs.

4. Atlanta Falcons - Matt Ryan, QB Boston College
The Falcons have to wipe the slate clean and begin anew. Getting a ready-made NFL passer like Ryan is a good start.

5. Kansas City Chiefs - Brian Brohm, QB Louisville
Brodie Croyle isn't the answer.

6. New York Jets - Vernon Gholston, DE Ohio State
Gholston fits the scheme and could be versatile enough to use in several spots.

7. New England Patriots (from San Francisco) -
Mike Jenkins, CB South Florida
The Patriots need reinforcements in the secondary, especially if Asante Samuel takes off.

8. Baltimore Ravens - Andre Woodson, QB Kentucky
The franchise is starting over. Kyle Boller and Troy Smith aren't the players to build an offense around.

9. Cincinnati Bengals - Derrick Harvey, DE Florida
The Bengals will think about a pass rusher just in case there are problems going into 2008 with injuries, but a running back might be tempting.

10. New Orleans Saints - Sedrick Ellis, DT USC
Corner and linebacker will be more pressing, but Ellis is too good to pass up. The Saints will go into the draft hoping Jenkins falls.

11. Buffalo Bills - Kenny Phillips, S Miami
The Bills need a corner or a receiver, but could give the secondary more of a boost with Phillips, a steal here.

12. Denver Broncos - Jake Long, OT Michigan
While he's not quite the nimble lineman Denver usually goes with, he's the best tackle in the draft and a big-time find if he lasts this long.

13. Carolina Panthers - Calais Campbell, DE Miami
Is Julius Peppers going to go through the motions again? The Panthers could use a safety, but will go with the pass rusher to get more aggressive.

14. Chicago Bears - Ryan Clady, OT Boise State
The Bears need everything on offense and would love for one of the top quarterbacks to drop. Fixing up the line is priority one, getting a receiver is part two.

15. Detroit Lions - Rashard Mendenhall, RB Illinois
Kevin Jones can't stay healthy. With Mike Martz gone, more balance will be the edict going into 2008.

16. Arizona Cardinals - Jonathan Stewart, RB Oregon
Edge James and Stewart would be a devastating 1-2 punch to take the heat off Matt Leinart/Kurt Warner. The running game needs more pop.

17. Minnesota Vikings - Early Doucet, WR LSU
Since there isn't a quarterback here, more help to save the Tarvaris Jackson experiment will arrive.

18. Houston Texans - Felix Jones, RB Arkansas
Ron Dayne, Darius Walker and Ahman Green will all be elsewhere sooner than later.

19. Philadelphia Eagles - Keith Rivers, LB USC
Will the Eagles finally get the linebacker they need?

20. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Malcolm Kelly, WR Oklahoma
Boosting the receiving corps has been a need for years. Joey Galloway can't last forever.

21. Washington Redskins - Kentwan Balmer, DT North Carolina
The best defensive lineman left on the board will go here.

22. Dallas Cowboys (from Cleveland)
- DeSean Jackson, WR California
Dallas secured Patrick Crayton, but he's not a number one receiver when T.O. is done. Getting younger at OT might be the call to protect the franchise.

23. Seattle Seahawks - Sam Baker, OT USC
Seattle needs to get younger with Walter Jones starting to show his age.

24. Pittsburgh Steelers - Jeff Otah, OT Pitt
The line will be a glaring issue in a big hurry.

25. Tennessee Titans - Limas Sweed, WR Texas
Sweed might be a questionable first rounder, but the Titans need receivers and Vince Young knows how to work with his former Longhorn teammate.

26. Jacksonville Jaguars - Leodis McKelvin, CB Troy
A defensive end would be nice, but a top-flight No. 2 corner would be better.

27. San Francisco 49ers (from Indianapolis)
- Mario Manningham, WR Michigan
Darrell Jackson is a bust and Arnaz Battle isn't anything special. The Niners have to give Alex Smith more weapons to work with.

28. Dallas Cowboys - Aqib Talib, CB Kansas
Offensive tackle or receiver, depending on what happens with the earlier pick, could be the call, but getting more help on the corners is a must at some point.

29. New York Giants* - Dan Connor, LB Penn State
Boosting the linebacking corps isn't a big-time must, but it would certainly help allow the line to keep pinning its ears back to get into the backfield.

30. San Diego Chargers* - Chris Williams, OT Vanderbilt
The Chargers could use more of a rotation to keep Phil Rivers upright.

31. Green Bay Packers* - Fred Davis, TE USC
If Brett Favre is coming back for one more year, he'll want one more weapon to work with.

32. New England Patriots - No Soup For You
Naughty, naughty. The Pats lose this pick thanks to Spygate.

There is no way in God's green earth that the Ravens take Woodson with the 8th pick. I'm not saying they won't take a QB, and I'm not even saying they won't take Woodson, but it will not be with the 8th pick of the draft. That is a joke.

I really get aggravated everytime I see a mock that has the Ravens taking a QB. That's such bull[censored], Heisman Trophy Winner Troy Smith is one of the few things they have going for them. I'm not being a homer with this, I'm sure most Raven players and fans agree. Give Troy a chance. Go get him a lineman or target. I will despise that team if they draft a QB with their first round pick.

7. New England Patriots (from San Francisco) - Mike Jenkins, CB South Florida

22. Dallas Cowboys (from Cleveland) - DeSean Jackson, WR California

27. San Francisco 49ers (from Indianapolis) - Mario Manningham, WR Michigan

Wow. Awful mock draft. Would Miami really draft Glenn Dorsey at #1? If they want a DE, they'll take Chris Long, b/c Dorsey certainly isn't a 3-4 DT. Why do these mock drafts continually make that move?

I definately agree with above poster on Andre Woodson. Not only would the Ravens not of taken him in the first place, but he had an awful Senior Bowl, practice and all. He may be lucky to find the first round, let alone top 15.

Not sure about Aqib Talib. I certainly don't think a team like Dallas takes him. They have good scouts.

Why would Green Bay take Fred Davis? Has CFN not heard of their great young TE, Donald Lee??? What a wasted pick that would be.

No way Jake lasts to #12. D'Brickashaw Ferguson and Joe Thomas have played to well to let that happen.

In a surprise move, I think Mario Manningham goes even higher than where he's projected. He's going to have a great pro-day/combine. I know some aren't so high on him, but GM's will see gamebreaking potential.

In the end, I think McFadden goes #1 to a team willing to move up. Nobody wants to be the idiots that let AD slip to #7 last year.

They certainly need to pick up a QB (for depth) at some point (whether draft or free angency)... but they'd be foolish to go QB with their numerous needs. Not the least of which, protecting the QBs blindside. Maybe they get lucky and Long slips to them.

I think Miami or Oakland, possibly both, will trade out of their picks trying to get multiple picks instead. Scary thought, if one of those teams trades to New England, or Dallas...
