Very interesting - almost too good to have come from ESPN.
As for designs - I like the serial rings that the Pack and Steelers crafted. Simple, and, if possible, understated.
Though, as a tie-in to a story it is no surprise really that I'll go for 1988 - SB XXIII - which features John Frank's lost and found anecdote.

The '85 Bears is pretty cool. The '00 Ravens has to be the ugliest. Although, I'll wait for the 2008 Browns ring as it will be sure to be both the ugliest and my favorite.

I like the Browns SB Ring. 
My favorites are '78, '91, '96. Classically simple (not gaudy like the Pats) yet noticeable. |

I thought the Raven's ring with the bird head and the two Denver Bronco rings with the horses are kind of unique.
