McCarthy impressed with Rodgers' offseason; Favre to be on Late Show; Milwaukee ticket holders get big games
For all the innuendoes in recent weeks of Brett Favre's doing an about-face and un-retiring, quarterback Aaron Rodgers hasn't been looking over his shoulder to see whether his predecessor comes walking back into the team's Lambeau Field locker room.
Head coach Mike McCarthy said Rodgers has been preparing since Green Bay started its offseason workouts March 17 as though he will be the starter come opening day in September.....

Culpepper visits Packers
By PackerReport.com

Veteran ex-Vikings quarterback would back up Aaron Rodgers
Former Minnesota Vikings quarterback Daunte Culpepper met with the Packers today in Green Bay, according to reports. The Packers are seeking a backup for new starter Aaron Rodgers, and Culpepper could be a great fit.
Culpepper started six games for the Raiders last season. Since he sustained a severe knee injury in 2005, it has been difficult for him to regain the Pro Bowl form of his Minnesota glory days when he was throwing long touchdowns to Randy Moss........

Packers' pre-draft analysis: Defensive backs
By Bob Fox

Expect Packers to select a cornerback high in NFL draft
The Green Bay Packers have to add quality depth to their secondary, especially the cornerback position because of the age of their starters, and also because the people that played the nickel back position last year were so inconsistent.
Al Harris and Charles Woodson are two of the best corners in the NFL, but father time is catching up to them as Harris is 33 and Woodson is 31....

Just drafted Brian Brohm.
I'm very high on Brohm; I think he's a very good quarterback. I guess Dante won't be backing up my boy Rodgers. Packers really should be set for the next 5 years with Rodgers and Brohm.

I agree here. I really like the Brohm pick. In fact i like the Packers draft. of course we wont find out anything until these guys hit the field but getting Brohm, Nelson and Lee on day 1 aint too shabby.

Notebook: Packers put Favre on retired list
By PackerReport.com
Posted Apr 25, 2008
Minicamp is set for mid-June, with training camp opening on July 28
Brett Favre hasn?t submitted the official paperwork in the six weeks since he announced his retirmenent, but that didn?t stop the Packers from putting Favre on the NFL?s reserve/retired list on Friday.
?Both (coach) Mike McCarthy and I have spoken to Brett over the past several days,? Packers general manager Ted Thompson said in a press release. ?Brett knew this change in his roster status was coming, and he fully understood our need to make the move in advance of the NFL draft.?

Thompson sticks to his plan
By Doug Ritchay

General manager refuses to sway from draft board on Day 1
When the Green Bay Packers traded the 30th pick in the first round of the NFL draft Saturday, few were surprised. Two picks later starts the second round, so at 30 you?re almost getting a second-round talent but having to pay first-round money.
The trade made sense in every way and with the Packers? first pick of the draft, coming at No. 36, they surprised most and picked Kansas State wide receiver Jordy Nelson, who caught 122 passes for 1,606 yards last season....
