Cleveland will probably try-out about a million DB's after training camp cuts. There are always a few veterans and quality guys out there.
It seems like Romeo and Phil might be following the Patriots blue-print. Get big-time players for the front 7 and plug in guys in the secondary.
I'm still very concerned about the CB depth, but the Patriots have consistently made stars out of previously unknown players. Hell, even Troy Brown became a decent nickle-back after playing wideout for 10+ years.
They obviosuly feel like our secondary getting picked apart last year was the front sevens fault.

Respectfully, it was; the pass rush was disgusting.
For Romeo being a former (and successful) D- coordinator, I expect it to
soon be a returning strength for my Brownies.

Daven Holly injures knee Browns begin search for new cornerback to start 2008 season
By Marla Ridenour
Beacon Journal sportswriter
Published on Thursday, May 22, 2008
BEREA: The Browns' biggest weakness became a gaping hole Tuesday when cornerback Daven Holly blew out his left knee, landing awkwardly after leaping to break up a pass.
Coach Romeo Crennel said Holly suffered cartilage and ligament damage. General Manager Phil Savage said Holly could undergo surgery Friday. A reconstruction will likely sideline the three-year veteran for at least this season.
Crennel said receiver Braylon Edwards suffered a hip pointer on the same play. Edwards was unable to practice Wednesday during the second week of organized team activities for the Browns. Savage said his injury was not serious.
The loss of Holly sent Savage into full search mode. The Browns traded starting cornerback Leigh Bodden to the Detroit Lions in the deal for defensive lineman Shaun Rogers and they released Kenny Wright last week after two offseason arrests for marijuana possession. Holly and Brandon McDonald, a fifth-round pick who played well last season after rookie starter Eric Wright suffered a November knee sprain, were expected to battle in training camp for Bodden's spot.

Cleveland Browns General Manager Phil Savage to seek help for thin secondary
Thursday, May 22, 2008Tony Grossi
Plain Dealer Reporter
Two weeks into voluntary off-season practices, the Browns have lost two players they were counting on heavily.
Last week it was right guard Ryan Tucker who went down with a hip fracture. He had surgery and will be out at least until August.
This week the news is grimmer.

Tight end Kellen Winslow will attend Cleveland Browns minicamp in June, agent Drew Rosenhaus says
Thursday, May 22, 2008Mary Kay Cabot
Plain Dealer Reporter
Kellen Winslow's agent Drew Rosenhaus said on a YouTube video Wednesday that Winslow will attend the mandatory June minicamp and the training camp in July.
Winslow is not attending the 12 voluntary organized team activities, which are in the second of four weeks.
"These are voluntary activities," Rosenhaus said. "They are not mandatory, and a player has a right to train on his own.

The three contracts reportedly add up to $115 million.
But is that enough to make the Cleveland Browns serious contenders?
That is the question facing new additions Donte' Stallworth, Shaun Rogers and Corey Williams, who all made their debut last week during Cleveland's organized team activities. The veterans were brought in to take last year's surprising 10-6 team to the next level.
The Browns, despite last season's success, joined the Oakland Raiders and New York Jets as two of the most aggressive teams in free agency. Cleveland retained their two biggest free agents, running back Jamal Lewis and quarterback Derek Anderson, while patching up three glaring needs by signing a No. 2 receiver (Stallworth) and trading for a starting defensive tackle (Rogers) and defensive end (Williams).
