The Browns may be willing to trade him for less than the 1st and 3rd that they were asking for before. Again take it for what it's worth.

I really hope that turns out to be true. I don't think DA's a bad QB but I don't think he'll ever be a great QB either. He's just not accurate enough and this was not his first time throwing a lot of interceptions in a season. In his senior year of college he completed only 54% of his passes and threw 17 interceptions.
Low completion percentage and lots of interceptions just like this year with the Browns. There is a reason why a guy with his ability doesn't get drafted until the 6th round. His big arm is both a blessing and a curse, he might win you some games but he'll also lose some by trying to force the issue. A playoff/championship contender needs someone more steady than that. DA's performance in Cincy cost the Browns a playoff spot. I was at that game and it wasn't that windy inside the stadium. Even if you want to argue about the conditions, I'll say the majority of his interceptions were caused by bad decisions and inaccurate throws.
If they can get a 1st and a later pick for DA, I'll be ecstatic. I would probably even take 2 2nd's or a 2nd and a 3rd. I really don't think any team would have given up a 1st and 3rd. With a good surrounding cast and what I've seen of Quinn(both college & pro), I'm not too worried about him being a bust. They can find a solid backup for a lot cheaper than DA and spend that money in other need areas.

On a side note, I was reading a post from a Green Bay fan and he said that Williams is a little inconsistent but that they also ran a 4-3 in Green Bay. Also says that we only have to give up a #3 not a #2. I guess I will have to do some research.

That's the funny thing. For every time I see that we have to give up our 2nd round pick, I've seen a report that it is actually our 3rd round pick. If that's the case and we still have our 2nd round pick than I'll be okay if we can't trade DA. Then we would have DA for starter or depth, 2nd round pick to get best player available to fill our needs and we'd have a great lineman in williams. Plus who knows what we still may do in free agency.

Even if they gave a 2nd round pick, Williams is likely going to have a bigger impact on the team than anyone else they could have drafted there.

Browns lining up more visits
by Tony Grossi
Friday February 29, 2008, 3:07 PM
Exhaling from an exhilarating start to free agency ...
* The Browns are being visited today by Tennessee defensive end Travis LaBoy and New England receiver Donte Stallworth. Newly acquired defensive end Corey Williams also is in the house. Their arrivals were delayed by bad weather. The team is expecting two more free agent visits tonight and even more on Saturday. All are dependent on the weather.
* Stallworth is another receiver represented by Drew Rosenhaus, who is trying to get a new deal for Kellen Winslow. Rosenhaus and Browns GM Phil Savage, incidentally, have a good working relationship.

DA for Pat Williams and a 2nd round pick. Browns get another DL and Vikes get their QB, both take big cap hit but that's the only way that sign and trades work is if you do it with another team that would be in a similar cap hit situation.

I'm not a Browns fan, but Pat Williams and a second rounder would be a tremendous deal. I'd take that trade over a first and third any day. Pat Williams has proven that he's a very good DT, and you still get a second rounder.
Is that a rumor, or are you just asking?

Not sure if I want Stallworth. Think there are better free-agent WRs that we might be able to get... just not sure.
Re: Williams and the draft choice that we have to give up. Been reading a couple posts above it says that he was tendered and that the Browns will have to sign him. I'm not sure about the difference between a guy being tendered or having the franchise tag put on him. If it is the same thing, the draft choice that the Browns might have to give up might be based on the contract that he signs with the Browns. I just don't know if there's a difference when it comes to draft choices if a guy is tagged or tendered.
I want to know who is coming in over the weekend!

I don't want Pat Williams from Minnesota. He is 36 years old. That's all I needed to know.
