It doesn't look bad, and it isn't over-the-top. I don't really understand it though; Usually when there is a uniform change it's with the jersey so people will buy them. I don't see people going to NFLshop.com to buy Official Browns Pre-season pants.

Yeah, from the article it doesn't look like there are any plans to wear them this season. I'm a fan of traditional looking uni's. The Browns haven't changed anything really outside of the arm stripes on the jerseys. I just don't ever want to see an all Brown uniform similar to the Titans or Falcons solid color abomination. The Browns, Steelers, Packers and Bears uniforms are very much a part of their respective identities...you don't mess with that.

this secondary has me freaking worried; especially against larger more physical receivers.

Nice to know we don't have our full Dline going tonight, because the pass rush isn't amazing.

Yep. That and a ridiculously tough schedule are keeping my optimism in check. Help is needed in that secondary. It's as simple as that. There is no depth at corner and the safeties are average. Savage is a smart guy, so hopefully he's looking around, because if we go into the season with this group, 8-8 might be the ceiling. Even with an improved pass rush, you have to be able to stop the pass and these guys cannot do that well enough.

It seems hi sttrategy has been a year by year approach to different units. I'd expect we spend out free agency money in the DB department next year, which should tempe rour hopes for this season. This secondary, like last year, has to be bottom third in the league.

Even adding more depth, doesn;t hide the fact that Eric Wright is our #1 cb. Potentially a very good cb, but not a #1 this season. Brandon McDonald dhould have had this year as opportunity to get experience backing up a #1, but he's now our #2. Even with a full compliment of DL, QB's will stave hiave time to throw....you don't get an amzaing pass rush on the QB every play.

Agreed. Unfortunately, a success starved and delusional (after last season's success) fanbase is actually talking SuperBowl. That's absolutely crazy. It's gonna take a lot of breaks our way to get into the playoffs. I think Savage wants to win now and I'm holding out hope he can make a move or two to upgrade the secondary, but that is far froma sure thing. I think the playoffs are the goal this year, as they should be after last season, but in my mind, I see an 8-8 team at best.

Good lord, that was the worst 1st quarter I've ever seen. They say preseason doesn't matter, but it sure does when you suck that bad.

I do like what I've seen out of Charles Ali though, and a 56-yarder from Phil Dawson?! Who knew? He's even putting kickoffs into the endzone. He must've read some of the comments on here last week.

Manning, Hixon lead Giants in mistake-filled win

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. ? Eli Manning was in Super Bowl form for the New York Giants and Domenik Hixon was even better.
New York's 37-34 exhibition victory Monday night was made easier by the Cleveland Browns, who had a season's worth of mistakes in little more than a quarter, including 98 penalty yards and a fumble that resulted in a 95-yard TD for the Giants.
That return gave New York a 30-3 lead less than a minute into the second quarter, one that second- and third-stringers barely managed to maintain.
Hixon, starting at wide receiver because Plaxico Burress, Amani Toomer and Steve Smith didn't suit up, caught 11- and 24-yard touchdown passes from Manning in the first quarter. He returned a free kick 82 yards for a touchdown after a series of Cleveland mistakes that included a safety on a punt by Dave Zastudil that he kicked into one of his teammates.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.: Some wonder if the Browns will get a fair evaluation of backup quarterback Brady Quinn unless he plays with the first team.
But the former Notre Dame star who was the 22nd overall pick in the 2007 draft said he will never go to coach Romeo Crennel and make that request.
''That's not my place. You guys are more tempted, maybe you guys should ask him for me,'' Quinn said last week. ''I'm never going to be that type of guy. I know when my number's called, I'll be ready.''
After getting just one series of work in the 2007 season finale, Quinn played about a half in the 2008 preseason opener at home against the New York Jets on Aug. 7. He completed 13-of-17 passes for 133 yards with an interception and a 73.9 rating, producing 10 points.
Crennel said he would handle playing time in Monday night's nationally televised game against the New York Giants at the Meadowlands in similar fashion, although the starters might go into the second quarter.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J.: If there was an eerie glow at Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport in the wee hours this morning, it might have been a bonfire of brown pants.
Changing the Browns' traditional uniforms brought a rush of bad luck Monday night at Giants Stadium. The Browns rallied from a 27-point, second-quarter deficit but still fell 37-34 to the defending Super Bowl champion New York Giants.
Making matters worse was the loss of starting quarterback Derek Anderson, who left the game with 13:17 to go in the second quarter. He was taken to the locker room for what was announced as an evaluation of a possible concussion.
Also injured were starting safety Brodney Pool (concussion), receiver/returner Joshua Cribbs (left ankle) and linebacker Leon Williams (neck).
