I think now our focus in the draft should be an OLB. I'd like to see us focus on some good, promising young OLBs and try and snag them somehow in the draft.
Honestly, these are some really good moves. We just got one of the best NT in the league and a franchise type guy to play end. We should have a ton of talent and depth on the dline now. This should really shore up our run defense. Assuming our young DBs progress, I'm going to be pretty optimistic about our defense next season. |

I really like the moves so far... d-line is very important and was a huge reason our defense wasn't good last year. My gut feeling is that we sign a CB in Free agency and then get another in the 4th round. Hopefully Savage can use his famed scouting skills to find a gem on the second day.

I wonder why the trade between the Bengals and the Lions for Rogers fell through. While I love the play of MacDonald last year, I am concerned that the Browns need to look for a CB or at least someone who can play the nickel position. Maybe the Browns know that Baxter is going to be all right but I doubt that. Just don't know. I would love for the Browns to get Haggans to play OLB plus it would put another hurt on the Steelers. I just wonder how much money the Browns still have to spend after signing Williams and getting Rogers. I think that with total about $12 mil but it is probably more and they had around $34 mil after they left Orpheus go. Also with the re-signing of Anderson that will probably drop the available money for other free agents even further. We still need to bring in a inside linebacker and I have heard no mention of that. We still need some help there so maybe Phil can bring in some more guys today and tomorrow and take care of those positions. I think once a guy leaves town without being signed the use of the do not come back so I guessed Stallworth and Laboy are history. |

These moves all say one thing to me: We want to win and we want to win now and in the future. I like it. No reason to roll the dice in the draft when you have the ability to bring in guys who will make the immediate impact. Although I want to see what Quinn can do, the DA deal won't hurt if he's more like the 2nd half of last year than the 1st. I'd also like to see them add some running back depth, but I couldn't be more pleased with yesterday's moves.

As disappointed as I am that Bodden is heading out of Cleveland, I am happy with the moves. Savage realizes there is no way we get anyone the quality of Williams or Rogers in the draft, especially with no first round pick. Plus, we do not have to pay guaranteed money to someone who has never taken a professional snap. Finally, with DA and BQ we have two good QBs with neither of them having a contract that prohibits the team trading or cutting one in the future.
Hell of a start to the 08 season! |

Good point about not having to pay guaranteed money to someone who was not a proven NFL player. |
