In prime-time triumph, Browns secondary becomes a primary strength

I would agree with this only to the extent of the 4 starters. We do not have much depth back there and the only time I see one of the backups is when they are tackling a receiver after they have caught a ball in front of them Maybe when Sean Jones is able to play Mike Adams can play the nickel back. He seems to be playing pretty well this season.

Watching the NFL Network, Rich Eisen was speaking with Adam Schefter about how Washington just signed Shaun Alexander. He asked him if there were any other household name players out there, who may be ready right now, and who may also be signed yet this season to contribute. His answer was Ty Law is ready right now, and would like to sign with a contender. Go figure, the Cowboys seem to be the team to beat, even with Law having lowered his price demands. He mentions the Jets, Patriots, Browns, and Dolphins have all been in contact recently, and Law is ready to sign tomorrow and play Sunday. I know 2-3 isn't a common trait when you think of contenders, but there are 11 games to play.

Winslow has swollen nuts...that is the issue at hand. They are trying to figure out why they are swollen. He is now at home, and should be good to go shortly.

BEREA ? Pro Bowl tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. rejoined the Cleveland Browns on Thursday, Oct. 16, one week after he was hospitalized with an undisclosed illness that sidelined him for one game and could keep him out for another.
He's back with the team, but the timing on Winslow's return to the field is still unclear.
Winslow spent three nights at the Cleveland Clinic being treated for an illness that has been kept under wraps by the team, which cited privacy laws.
The 25-year-old Winslow was seen walking in the hallway at the team's training complex Thursday shortly before the Browns practiced outdoors. He remained inside the facility during the 30 minutes that are open to the media.
Head coach Romeo Crennel said Winslow could practice today as the club prepares for Sunday's game against the Washington Redskins.

'Freaky' rhythm benefits Browns Anderson, Edwards connect in defeat of New York Giants

BEREA: On Monday night, a passing glance was all it took for Browns quarterback Derek Anderson and receiver Braylon Edwards to communicate.
The pair's nonverbal skills were so on-point that Edwards described it as ''freaky.''
''There were some things I did and in the back of my mind I'm thinking, 'I should not have done that,' and here's the ball right on me,'' Edwards said.
That was most evident on an 11-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter that gave the Browns a 13-point lead en route to a 35-14 victory over the previously unbeaten New York Giants.
Edwards explained he was supposed to go outside of Giants cornerback Aaron Ross, get to the back of the end zone, run in three steps, then go back out. It didn't exactly work that way, but it worked.
''I went to the outside and he jumped outside hard,'' Edwards said of Ross. ''I came back inside and he fell. I said, 'It doesn't make
any sense to go back and come back out out, just go up and stop.' I went up and sat down and [Anderson] said, 'Cool, he's there' and he fired it low where nobody could get it and we scored.
''That's the chemistry. It was just one of those nights.''

In 21 games under the Rob Chudzinski offense, the Browns never quite had a game like the one against the New York Giants.
Their 454 total yards was their second-highest total. Their 69 percent conversion rate on third downs (9-of-13) was their best effort.
It wasn't the first time Derek Anderson escaped without a sack. But it was the Giants' defense they were playing against, not Cincinnati's.
And they did it without Kellen Winslow.
The Pro Bowl tight end remained absent from practice Thursday with a still-undisclosed illness, although he did report to team headquarters early in the afternoon.

BEREA With star tight end Jeremy Shockey, the New York Giants were 0-3 in the postseason during a five-year span.

With Shockey injured and soon to be traded, the Giants went 4-0 in the 2007 postseason, capped by an upset for the ages against New England.

Naturally, this came to mind Monday when the Browns broke out on offense in a 35-14 rout of the Giants without star tight end Kellen Winslow Jr., who was mentored by Shockey as a Miami Hurricane.

Don't go there, Darnell Dinkins said.

"Our offense is much better with Kellen in it," said Dinkins, a tight end who wouldn't have been on the field for a 22-yard touchdown catch had Winslow played.

Steve Heiden, who started at tight end in place of Winslow, said Monday doesn't change the fact Winslow is an extraordinary tight end.

"Watch the games," Heiden said. "The other team's best cover guy a lot of the time is guarding (Winslow), and it stilldoesn't matter."

In other words, Winslow gets open.

What about Derek Anderson sputtering through four games with Winslow on the field, then looking like a million without K-2?

"I think D.A. was fine last year," said Heiden, referring to the fact Winslow had 1,106 receiving yards on a 10-6 team.

I was just roaring to post the same thing when I read the post that you quoted Your nuts don't get swollen when there is nothing wrong with you. There must be some type of infection or virus.

From the article linked, it says that Clinton Portis missed his second straight day of practice for the Redskins and probably will not play Sunday. I think that leaves the Redskins with only Shawn Alexander, who they just picked up on Monday, as their only decent RB.

The Browns are in pretty good health and Sean Jones might play some on Sunday.

After they lost to the Rams at home last week is further knowledge that he has no idea what he is mumbling. "lock of the year" is just stupid talk. I'm not saying that the Browns are going to win the game but it is certainly not a "lock".

I think the game Monday proved that there is no such thing as a lock one way or the other with the Browns. We could come out and blow the doors off of the Skins or lay and egg and get destroyed. You never know until the game starts.
