Maybe this guy will provide some depth for us along the d-line I do not know much about him.

This is from the New York Giants team page. I would trade Edwards for some high draft choices. I don't want to do a complete rebuild but I think after next season he is going to ask for an outrageous contract if he does not have the dropsies like he did last season. Quote:

If the compensation was right, I wouldn't be totally opposed. There's only a few guys I definitely don't want us to get rid of, and Edwards isn't really one of them. Besides, I'm tired of having to root for guys from colleges teams that I don't like (him, KWII, Brady).

With Sean Jones signing with the Iggles the Browns really need some safety help. Roy Williams was cut by Dallas, he has always been solid against the run but he is somewhat suspect against the pass. He could be an option, not real sure who else is out there.

Somewhat suspect against the pass is a huge compliment to Roy Williams.

Agreed he is pretty terrible against that pass but we do not have much going on at safety right now. I like Rashad Johnson from Alabama, natural playmaker, nose for the ball, decent tackler. He is currently projected as a second or third rounder.

Agree about Johnson. There are a few pretty decent safeties projected between 2-4 that look like they should be pretty solid. Johnson, Louis Delmas, Patrick Chung, William Moore (I think Moore is projected middle/late first round - could be wrong).

Now all we have to do is pick up some more draft choices to get some of these players since it is not looking like we are going to be very active in FA. Safety, 2 LB's, 1 RB, another DB, and maybe an OL since we are pretty long in the tooth there. Pretty soon we might be called the Cleveland Browns Jets

Barton would be a good addition.

draftcountdown.com has a new mock draft up today. They have us taking Orakpo at 5, Donald Brown at 36(rb from connecticut) and Jared Cook at 50(TE from south carolina). I don't really care for any of those picks. Orakpo is decent I could live with it but we don't need to draft a TE right now period. We need a corner and a safety plus all the linebackers we can get. I would say we definitely need a big back that can replace Jamal too but I don't know if like Brown at 36.

Agree with the others. I think Orakpo looks good, but the team has more important needs, especially if they sign these LBs that are being discussed. EDIT: I was thinking Barton was an OLB. Taking an OLB at 5 wouldn't be a bad move. Still.. secondary is more important IMO.. Last edited by 3074326; 03-09-2009 at 08:09 PM. |

We need a difference maker at safety and there is going to be some decent options in round two. You need talented guys in the secondary but the browns gotta find some guys that can come off the edge and put pressure on the quarterback.

They can find a solid safety in FA or later in the draft. They need the difference maker up front and in this draft, that Orakpo.... |
