We seriously need WR depth and it's being addressed. Can still get a good RB with the next pick or even next year. It's easy to plug and play rookie RB's and Lewis should still have another year. Hopefully they work Harrison in a little more if they don't grab a RB with the next pick.

Well, at least we'll have Robo as a reliable target

So the question is do they go RB or safety with this pick? I think it comes down to McCoy/ Green or Rashad Johnson/ William Moore...
umm nevermind they pick a DE out of Hawaii????? WTF |

David Veikune - DE/Hawai'i.
Mili, you got anything? |

He's 3 time all-WAC academic....that'll translate well into the NFL....yeah.....

Nevermind about McCoy now that I see him standing next to Drew Rosenhaus at his draft party.
Apparently the Eagles won't mind dealing with him though - they grab him. |

Well, McCoy to Philly...would've been nice. Guess we'll be going RB next year.

Looks like an OLB project... why in the second round though?
Scouting Report: Veikune is a hard-working, lean defenseman with top-notch speed for the position. His speed and agility may necessitate a permanent shift to Outside Linebacker in the NFL. He enjoyed a very productive career at Hawaii and is the type of high-motor, energetic presence that can cause fits along the line of scrimmage. He sheds blocks well and uses his hands to his advantage, often times engaging first and dictating position. Veikune had some experience standing up on the edge at Hawaii, experience that makes him a versatile project of sorts if an NFL team wanted to alter his role. He lacks the elite type of athleticism that may be needed to shift to OLB, and due to his lack of size he can sometimes be engulfed by bulky tackles. Veikune's lack of ideal height and bulk for defensive-end will likely lead to a shift to OLB in a 3-4 scheme at the next level, where his energy and motor will be well served. |

Speaking of Rosenhaus... That "This is Sportscenter" commercial where he's negotiating for their lunches in the cafeteria - if that were a real Rosenhaus negotiation Scott Van Pelt wouldn't have got to eat until Week 2 of the NFL season.

You make fun but I think that stuff counts right now. There's a bit of a trend here. Mack won the Draddy Award. Robiskie was a finalist for that award. Veikune seems to be a smart guy too. It speaks to their intelligence and perhaps their work ethic. It might also help to change the culture of this franchise - which has been well-populated by [censored]tards and [censored]heads for the last ten years (i.e. Winslow, Stallworth, Mike Sellers, Ben Gay, Gerard Warren, Kenny Wright, etc.) Maybe this will lead to the Browns playing a smarter brand of football down the road.

Overall, I give day one a solid B. We really needed depth at WR and I think that was legitimately addressed. Robo can come in and start from day 1 and is a polished, fundamentally sound WR with good hands. Massaquoi is a playmaker who will be a solid #3 or 4 reciever. I'm not crazy about taking a C in round one with so many other holes to fill, but it's clear that Mangini and Kokanis have a very real idea of how they want to build this team. They added some solid veteran players to plug some needs on defense too. I'm interested to see where they go on day 2. They're not flashy, but they're adding football players to a team that desperatley needs them.
