As long as he wasn't drunk/high or doing 150MPH with his kid in the backseat I'd say this is the rare NFL off field headline that was truely just a tragic accident.

I'm not sure how he'd come back clean if what he admitted to drinking is accurate....even if he quit at 12 am. I could be wrong, but wouldn't 4 Patrons and 2 Margaritas put him close or above the legal limit even at 7am??

Not to mention he said "at least" that much to the Police at the scene. I hope I'm wrong, but this just looks like it is going to end very badly for Donte.

If he did stop drinking at midnight then 6 drinks should not cause him to blow anything high if he stopped drinking for 7 hours.

Patron is 80 proof, margaritas could've been strong, he could've had all this in a short amount of time, etc. Plus, in situations regarding alcohol, people tend to bend the truth one way or the other..

But, speculation is meaningless considering there are test results to be seen soon.

Yea at some point in the night he was definatly over the limit. But with just those six drinks even if he took them all at 11:58 by 7am he would probably not be over .08. But who knows the actual intake amount, time, etc.

We realize that the newspaper business is struggling. But we didn?t realize that one of the plans for salvaging the industry involving reprising the 80s-era Faces of Death series.

The Miami Herald has posted at its web site video of the aftermath of Saturday?s collision involving Donte? Stallworth?s Bentley and 59-year-old Mario Reyes.

The video ? which appears with a disclaimer that the images are graphic ? includes shots of emergency workers attempting to revive Mr. Reyes, who would later die.

The video also shows Stallworth, standing on the sidewalk as police shine a light into his eyes as part of a field sobriety test.

The video doesn?t really show much of anything worth much of anything. So why in the hell did they post it?

If this is how the old media plans to compete with the new media, the old media will be gone sooner than anyone ever realized.
And no one will really miss it.

The only new information of note in the latest article is that a witness claims that the incident occurred after Stallworth tried to beat a red light by going around a vehicle that already had stopped at the light. If that?s the case, Stallworth might be in big trouble even if his blood alcohol content was below the legal limit.

Miami police say Cleveland Browns receiver Donte Stallworth won't be charged before Friday

CLEVELAND -- Charges against Browns receiver Donte Stallworth for killing a man while driving on a Miami Beach causeway Saturday morning would not be filed sooner than Friday, said a Miami Beach police spokesman.

Miami Beach police detective Juan Sanchez said that a blood test from a sample drawn from Stallworth at the scene of the accident won't be known until Friday at the earliest.

"We need to find what type of impairment, if any, there was," Sanchez said Monday afternoon. "I'm not even sure the blood work is over there yet. Our lead officer in this case who would be handling the evidence was in trial (on an unrelated case) this morning."

Stallworth's blood will be analyzed for traces of alcohol and drugs at the Miami-Dade County laboratory.
