Is Marshall Faulk a Top 10 Runningback All-Time?
If you guys havent noticed already, when I'm bored I think about sports and I come up with topics like this. I'll cut it down when the season starts, but since it's the offseason I hope you wouldnt mind.
So yeah I was thinking about how great Marshall was and how when he retired he seemed to disappear very quietly. He went from all-world player to Steven Jackson backup very fast due to injuries. Just based off what he accomplished in the NFL, would you rank him in the Top 10 all-time? Personally, I say hell yes. Obviously guys like Brown, Sanders, Payton, Sayers, Smith, and Simpson are fixtures in it but Faulk is on that level IMO. Retired with 12,000+ yards rushing, 100 TD's rushing, and 4.3 ypc. Recieving he had 6,875 yards, 36 TD's, and 9 ypc. I think as time goes on people will move him up, but right now I feel the media and some fans are hesitant to put him up there just yet. His 1999 year has to be the most impressive year ever for a RB. Where would you guys rank him? I have him probably in the Top 7 Also just share your thoughts on him as a player. PS: He deserved the Heisman over Toretta.

Definitely a Top 10. He was sick in his prime.

I'd have to say top 12.
1. Sweetness 2. Barry 3. Brown 4. Smith 5. Simpson 6. Sayers 7. Campbell 8. Dickerson 9. Dorsett 10. Tomlinson 11. Allen 12a. Thomas 12b. Seems to me it is one of those thing where the "gut" says "Yes" but then when you see a list like buchtelgrad's you start to think pretty hard about the candidates. It'd be easier if he was a clear top 5 to say he was top 10. lol

I'd rank him above Chris Perry thats for sure.
 P.S. Agree 100% on him deserving the Heisman over Gino Torretta.

He was a great runner and maybe the best pass catching back of all-time, combine those two and he's top 10 in my mind.

I'm not a Chargers fan at all, not really even a big LT guy, but I wouldn't consider the guy a punk and would certainly put him in the discussion for top 10 RB of all time. Definitely not worth losing credibility for including him. I mean, he is second all-time in rushing TDs. That's worth something. Certainly worth top 10 discussion.
