Well they could at least pick up Troy as one playmaker. A solid QB that could open up new formations is always a good start. After him, go hard after some speed on the outside. Also, its a novel idea but lets get a good pickup in the draft this year!

Thats what I'm thinking. I don't think we can blame the QBs at this point, not that they've all been stellar. Browns have had their fair share, and if you look back on that one fluke season, the biggest difference was the playmakers. Lewis wasn't quite as slow and hobbled. Stonehands wasn't dropping many balls. We had Winslow and he was making plays. Right now the skilled positions appear to be lacking. The people they have in to catch the ball aren't getting open or can't bring it in, and the backs either aren't getting the holes from the O-line or can't find them.

Of course to most NFL fans that aren't Buckeye fans, Smith is just a bench warmer and the only thing they know is that he won a Heisman and was a late round draft. You can't grade the kid on what you haven't seen. He needs to go to a team that is stiff and a spark, something other than an I-Formation, ie the Browns. Hell, even if he was brought in as a backup, Id say he'd be better than DA. |

Sometimes, I watch a game and think that it is a shame that one team has to suffer a loss.
Today I watched this game I thought that it is a shame one team gets credit for a win. |

you know, the browns might [censored] up and win 4 games now.....just enough to screw up their draft position....

He would never be a franchise savior, but he could add a spark here and there throughout the game the way most dual threat QBs are being worked currently in the NFL. Maybe Wildcat? Who knows, noone is a NFL coach, and even they dont get it right. I just think that the Browns need something, someone different in the pocket. They also need help in many other areas, but we are just talking about QB right now. In further news, Youboty had a big play today, which might help him get more PT as the season progresses. |

I think when Anderson threw the pick he was just happy somebody [censored]ing caught it. It's as if everybody got together and decided to show solidarity with their departed teammate. Even the guy who they got in the trade for Stonehands got in on the act!
Anderson wasn't that great but he might've had a chance to be better if the playcalling were a little better. How many drives were started running straight up the middle? How many times did they try a little play action? The predictability makes me long for the days where they'd at least run a toss play to the FB just to make the other team say "WTF" once in a while. |

I know they'd get fined, fired or both but if I'm one of the coaches in this puke fest I tell my QB to get comfy, punt on 1st down and just keep pinning the other [censored]er deep and waiting on his retard to [censored] up worse than your retard.
Extreme Tresselball is sometimes called for. |

When has an Ohio State offensive line ever played that bad for their QB? When has a coaching staff ever been quite so "shell-shocked" and all of a sudden become un-able to make game time adjustments? Fact is, it rarely happens in the NFL. I'm not saying blowouts don't happen, but to see the monumental letdown in all aspects of the game really requires the highschool/college level game. Troy wouldn't have to be a stud to help us win. He just needs to be steady, which at this point wouldn't be too much to ask - and remember, the Ravens staff was willing to make him a starter before his severe illness - now granted his competition was Boller and a rookie Flacco, it still says something when their coaches are saying they still have faith in him to run the offense should something happen to their starter. You act as if he would have a completely inept cast around him. While the Browns aren't the best, we have some talent and a line that can keep him upright considering his mobility. I dont see the harm because I doubt he'll really require a large contract... ![]() |

He looked pretty good the entire pre-season with exception to game 4 where he threw a couple picks. I think he's a better player than Anderson or Quinn at this point. Stronger arm than Brady, more mobility than either, and an amazing ability to get players behind him and trust him. Hell, even after a quick start last year by Baltimore, Terrelle Suggs was still calling for Troy to get the start over Flacco. They named the Troy Smith package the Suggs' package after Suggs went off on wanting Troy to get more PT and possibly start. But I understand your main theme. This team DOES need a franchise QB, and Troy probably isn't it. But you make him sound like grabage at the NFL level, which is far from the truth. Cam Cameron is even on record as saying he thinks Troy could be a solid starter elsewhere and a hidden gem. |
