He looked pretty good the entire pre-season with exception to game 4 where he threw a couple picks. I think he's a better player than Anderson or Quinn at this point. Stronger arm than Brady, more mobility than either, and an amazing ability to get players behind him and trust him. Hell, even after a quick start last year by Baltimore, Terrelle Suggs was still calling for Troy to get the start over Flacco. They named the Troy Smith package the Suggs' package after Suggs went off on wanting Troy to get more PT and possibly start.

But I understand your main theme. This team DOES need a franchise QB, and Troy probably isn't it. But you make him sound like grabage at the NFL level, which is far from the truth. Cam Cameron is even on record as saying he thinks Troy could be a solid starter elsewhere and a hidden gem.
Preseason is not a good indicator. Quinn was 21-31 for over 200 yards in preseason as well. Charlie Frye looked good in the preseason 2 years ago (Or good enough I guess). This team needs a deep threat that can hold onto the ball. They need a few receivers at least, to be honest, or a quality play making receiver and a TE like before.

Obviously their Oline isn't as good as believed then... at least, Cincy didn't make it look great.

With the exception of some spotty play on the right side, the Browns do have a strong left and center.

Anderson wasn't that great but he might've had a chance to be better if the playcalling were a little better. How many drives were started running straight up the middle? How many times did they try a little play action? The predictability makes me long for the days where they'd at least run a toss play to the FB just to make the other team say "WTF" once in a while.
Ahh yes, the toss to Lawrence Vickers. I remember more than one occasion when Romeo tried that on 4th and 1 and Browns fans went "WTF!" in unison.

Nothing beats 3rd and long: Metcalf up the middle or Tim Manoa draw.

Completely agree. Royal isn't Winslow and we don't have a field stretching WR. But Troy has FAR better pocket presence than either Quinn or Anderson. He has arm strength equal to Anderson. He just doesn't have the reps. All I'm really saying is Troy would be no worse tahn what we have now, and maybe even significantly better with his ability to move in the pocket and make plays on the run. I agree he isn't a franchise QB, but I do think he'd be a better option than anyone Cleveland is currently employing....

He has measurables similiar to Drew Brees and a leadership ability much like him as well - I don't see how it could hurt.

Either take Quinn's (in)ability or Anderson's inconsistency - shoot yourself in the head or the chest, take your pick.
