This is one of the few guys I disagree with 40 on...I think next to Rudolph, Ayles is the best pure TE in the country, and a close second at that. Stoney is right there though if he is added in. I would be a HUGE fan of offering Ayles if we have a shot.

I have no problem, being wrong and if the staff deems him worthy of an offer, then I would change my position as they know more than me, and I am not saying he isnt top 100 worthy, and with his offer list it is hard to go against that, but I just like the Ohio guys better, maybe b/c they bring more athleticism to the table, and are field stretchers...

I can't help but think our pursuit of Ayles and Koger (who I think the staff sees on D anyway) is just more proof that they don't plan on using Stoney too much as a TE, but more as a WR. Then again, I think it's a board consensus that we'll just get him on the field however we can and use him to create matchup nightmares.
Ayles must be the real deal though. Haven't seen his film, but his offer sheet obviously speaks for itself. |

Considering none of us have spoken to him yet it's kind of tough to get a read from just a couple of updates (only one of which was done by and OSU site). The fact that he is taking some unofficials in the Midwest this summer at least tells me that he is serious about the possibility. He sounds like he is pretty set on making officials to the five schools listed as well, which again means his interest must be legitimate. If he were just looking for vacations you can bet schools like Florida State, Florida, Alabama or Georgia would be on his list...those are great places to see a game with warm weather practically guaranteed.

If I was personally handicapping it (from what I've heard), I'd say USC would have to be considered the team to beat (but it would not be an insurmountable margin)... They are close to home and have friend and former teammate QB Aaron Corp as a freshman there this coming fall...
