Reuland Brothers Help Stanford Reach Orange Bowl
Former Mission Viejo receivers are two of five South Orange County alumni on Cardinal roster as NCAA bowl season winds down this week. Next up: college basketball.

Seven more bowl games will be played over the next eight days, and then we're officially done with the 2010 college football season. Didn't it used to end on Jan. 1? Well, yeah, but then again there are about twice as many bowl games as there used to be ? but should we really complain about too much football? I think not.

The home stretch kicks off Monday at 5:30 p.m. with Stanford (11-1) meeting Virginia Tech (11-2) in the Discover Orange Bowl in Miami.

One of five South Orange County players on the Cardinal's roster is former Mission Viejo High standout Konrad Reuland, who is closing out his collegiate career as a member of Stanford's most winning team since its 1992 version that finished 10-3.

The 6-foot-6 tight end, who has played in all 12 games and started six, has been a key target for Cardinal quarterback and potential No. 1 NFL draft pick Andrew Luck, catching 19 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown.

The Orange Bowl marks Stanford's second Bowl Championship Series game since the system's inception in 1998. It's also Reuland's second BCS bowl game appearance. He was a member of the 2006 Notre Dame team that played in the Sugar Bowl before transferring.

Alongside Konrad on the Cardinal roster is his little brother, 6-5 junior Warren Reuland. They were both 2,000-yard receivers at Mission Viejo High.
