'06 MD LB Navorro Bowman (Penn State signee)

childhood favorites...one of the first to offer...loved his visit...opportunity to play early. there are lots of positives in OSU's favor. depends on how strongly the staff went after him in regards to other schools.

Don't think the cards are stacked in our favor here. He hasnt really said a whole lot about us besides just the normal recruiting wishwash. The best thing he has said was being a buckeye fan, but that was just in his last article. We shall see.

Actually, he mentioned being a Buckeye fan in a Rivals article of July 11th.

When I originated this thread on January 22nd, Bowman was favoring Maryland, but had Ohio State in his group of favorites. Then, by March 10th, OSU had been dropped from his list. Some time in late May or early June, Bowman received an offer from Ohio State, and by July 11th, he had the Buckeyes in his top five, and was claiming that he had been a fan of the program for a long time. Ohio State has remained in his top 5 (now top 3) since that time. (To be fair, so have PSU and VPI).

Now, in the most recent article, by PSU Rivals, Bowman reiterates that he has been a lifelong fan of the Buckeyes.

It seems that Bowman's previous ebbs and flows concerning Ohio State have been directly related to the interest shown by the Buckeye staff. Maybe his recent comments indicate that the staff is beginning to up the intensity a bit now that the season is over.

Wadc45 has been cautiously optimistic about Bowman for quite some time, while I have been mildly pessimistic. However, I now agree with wadc45 that it is a true three-team race. Let's see what happens after an in-home from JT and the crew....

No LJB! Don't you drink the Kool-Aid too!
I definitely hope you both are right. Bowman is a heckuva football player. Great LB prospect, that's for sure.

Four-state middle linebacker Navorro Bowman of Suitland, Md. is down to three final schools – Penn State, Virginia Tech and Ohio State – and he is just about ready to end his recruiting process.

"My coach is setting up the press conference right now, and it should be in about two weeks," Bowman said. "They're pretty much all even. Just driving down the highway or doing anything I think about the decision. It's just hard."

Bowman grew up an Ohio State fan and has always believed that he would play for the Buckeyes. But Penn State definitely gives him a lot to think about.

"Penn State just seems like a great place I could be at for the next four years of my life, which is with all of the universities," Bowman said. "I'm looking at basically one specific thing, which is where I could be for the next four years of my life. Those three schools wouldn't be on my list if they weren't like that.

More than the next 4 years, Navorro....

If you've been a Buckeye fan growing up, it's the chance to live a dream.... and that dream continues to unfold for the rest of your life. Be a dreamer in scarlet and gray :oh: :io:

Navarro has made a decision and will announce on 12/8. He will choose between Ohio State, Penn State, and Virginia Tech.

My take: Although he had plenty of good things to say about tOSU, my gut feeling is PSU on this one. He spoke about his friendship with Derrick Williams andI feel that will be a deciding factor...although he does say tOSU presents the best opportunities for him.

If Nevada is saying PSU, then I'll have to assume that is the choice.

But, you never know, he grew up being a Buckeye fan, perhaps the opportunity to play in the Horseshoe and grow up in a city-like atmosphere in Columbus will override his friendship with Williams..
