Adams turned in a stellar performance on the night. Including an electric punt return of 64 yards, a kickoff return for 39 yards and and an interception.

Rumor has it Royce was close to a tOSU offer and last week's performance may have sealed the deal for an offer during the season.
  3. Good news. I would say the Royce sure performed trying to get that offer.
I will take all the Glenville kids we can get.

Royce sure looks like he got a lot bigger from that picture from St. Eds.

    Glenville vs. Columbus Brookhaven

What, when, where: Nonleague game, 1 p.m., Byers Field, Ridge Road and Day Drive, adjacent to Parmatown Mall. Call 216-541-8326 or 216-268-6000.

    Records: Both teams are 1-0.

What to watch: Everything -- just don't look away in the opening game of the new Charity Game doubleheader. Last year's Division II state champion, Brookhaven, had a cakewalk last week in a 48-7 victory over Chillicothe. Brookhaven has an outstanding quarterback in Mike McGee, talented running backs in Markell Lacy and Rodney Holmes, and a solid receiving duo of Jeff Cumberland and Kameron Taylor. However, Brookhaven is now in Division I, and Glenville is one of the top big schools in the state. Quarterback Arvell Nelson, running back Bruce Frieson and receivers Raymond Small, Bryant Milligan and Daven Jones had their way in a 32-0 opening-week win over Mentor. The Tarblooders' speed gives them the edge.

Royce says tOSU now leads over Iowa, North Carolina, Purdue, and Syracuse. He claims all have offered and tOSU has been showing much more attentions lately.

What, when, where: Senate Athletic League game, noon, at Bump Taylor (formerly Patrick Henry Middle School) Field, 11901 Durant Ave., Cleveland. Call 216-268-6000.

    Records: Collinwood 2-0, Glenville 2-0.

What to watch: Led by quarterback Cecil Shorts III, and receivers LaRon Marshall and Rhodes transfer Terence Bryd, the Railroaders have looked impressive in outscoring their first two foes, Shaw and Richmond Heights, by a 95-16 margin. However, Glenville has proven it's one of the top teams in the state with stellar efforts against highly touted Mentor and defending Division II state champion Columbus Brookhaven. The Tarblooders, rated the fastest team in Ohio, are loaded with Division I college prospects. Quarterback Arvell Nelson, lineman Robert Rose, linebacker Reggie Echols and speedsters Raymond Small, Raymond Fisher, Royce Adams and Daven Jones should feast on the synthetic turf.

What, when, where: Nonleague game, 7:30 p.m. at Mollenkopf Stadium, 860 Elm Road NE, Warren. Call 330-841-2316.

    Records: Glenville, 4-0; Harding 1-3.

What to watch: The area's top-ranked team will be out to avenge last season's last- minute 30-26 loss to Harding when Mario Manningham intercepted an Arvell Nelson pass for a 50-yard touchdown. Manningham is now a University of Michigan freshman, but Nelson is back and primed to redeem himself. After all, that loss was the Tarblooders' lone regular-season setback. Glenville has been nothing short of phenomenal and for good reason. The Tarblooders are big on the lines and have some of the state's fastest athletes at the skilled positions like two-way players Raymond Small, Raymond Fisher, Daven Jones and St. Edward transfer Royce Adams. University School transfer Bryant Milligan has given Glenville depth at WR/S, TB Bruce Frieson has fulfilled the role he inherited and another John Marshall transfer, Alex Bonilla, is a dependable placekicker. However, DE Deonte Williams and T Brandon McCray are questionable. Williams has a hip pointer and McCray twisted his knee. Strongsville's victory over Harding proved the Raiders' run defense is suspect. Harding has decent speed on the other side of the ball thanks to athletic QB Avery Qualls, but the offense is built around talented TB Dan Herron.

Nelson was 8-of-14 for 213 yards.
