How It Went: Buford junior running back Johnson watches Tech beat UGA

By Jeff Hood | Saturday, November 29, 2008, 08:35 PM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Buford junior running back Storm Johnson was among the large group of recruiting targets at Sanford Stadium on Saturday for the annual Georgia-Georgia Tech contest.
?It was a nice experience,? Johnson said. ?It was raining, but other than that it was a good visit.
?The coaches at Georgia treat you really well.?
Johnson, whose first scholarship offer came from Stanford, said the Dogs and several other prominent programs have indicated that they will offer him during the winter.
?A lot of schools are telling me they will offer me in January or February,? he said. ?That includes Georgia, Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Miami, Ohio State and Texas.?
On Stanford: ?It?s a great school. The academics there are really good. They run the ball about 65 percent of the time. I like the coaches and atmosphere at Stanford. They?re high on my list.?

RB Storm Johnson offered by LSU after visiting Tennessee

By Michael Carvell | Sunday, March 1, 2009, 10:54 PM
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Saturday was a big day for Loganville tailback Storm Johnson, one of the state?s top 2010 prospects. After returning from Junior Day at Tennessee, Johnson was offered by his childhood favorites, LSU.
?That is really exciting about LSU,? Johnson said. ?LSU was my team growing up. They compete for national championships. It means a lot when a top program like that wants you.?
Earlier in the day, Johnson made an unofficial visit to Tennessee, which has also offered. The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Johnson said he got to spend a few minutes with Vols coach Lane Kiffin. ?He liked my size, and said that they were really pursuing me.?
What were Johnson?s impressions of Kiffin? ?He seems very confident and spontaneous. You can tell he?s having a lot of fun at his job.?
Johnson said he was glad he made the trip to Tennessee. ?It?s a very good program that has a lot of eyes on it next year. They have a new coach and everything. A lot of people will be watching them very closely next year to see what they do.?
Johnson has 10 early offers and does not claim any favorites.

Johnson, Toney impressive in Atlanta - Insider - ESPN

Storm Johnson, RB, Junior, Loganville, Ga.
It's easy to see why this chiseled running back already has over a dozen scholarship offers. In 2008, he rushed for 1,300 yards averaging 11.3 yards per carry. At nearly 220 pounds, Johnson is high on the recruiting charts of schools like Oklahoma, Florida, LSU, USC, and Auburn. He topped the magical 100-point mark as he tallied a SPARQ rating of 102.3. Johnson definitely possesses both speed and quickness by running a 4.45 40 time and turning in a shuttle time of 4.2 seconds.

LSU to land Under Armour running back Storm Johnson
ESPNU 150 Watch List ball-carrier Storm Johnson of Loganville, Ga., has committed to the Tigers over Florida. However, his pledge will not be official until he meets with the LSU staff on July 11th, ESPN affiliate Web site EyeOnTheTigers.com reports.

Michigan State, Oklahoma and Ohio State were his other finalists. Among many others were Penn State, Tennessee, Florida State, UCLA and Kentucky.

"I have committed to LSU," the 5-foot-11, 210-pound Johnson told The Times-Picayune. "It's just a great place for me. I like the surroundings. I like the coaching staff. I like everything about it. I'm lucky to be a Tiger. I love LSU."

"Me and my parents talked," he added. "We looked at the top five schools I liked. We looked at what those schools could do to benefit me. We looked at the (academics), the programs and even the city they were in. We decided that LSU was the best place for me."

Johnson rushed for 1,300 yards and 21 touchdowns as a junior while playing for Buford, Ga.

At the Atlanta Nike Combine, he posted an electronically-timed 4.54 40-yard dash, 4.26 20-yard shuttle, 32.9-inch vertical and 102.3 SPARQ.
