The Loganville Tribune

Loganville took the opening kickoff and quickly got on the scoreboard, driving 69 yards in only three plays to take a 6-0 lead. Storm Johnson, making his Loganville debut, scored from 25 yards away on his first play from scrimmage. Two other critical plays in the drive included a pass interence call against the Gladiators and a 24-yard completion from Schmidt to Sam Jones that took the ball down to the 25. Johnson carried it into the end zone on the next play. The point after touchdown was no good.

Johnson ended his first game in the red and black with 109 yards and two touchdowns on 23 carries.

Here's another excerpt that provides more detail.

How exactly LSU went from destination to backup plan is a situation that Johnson kind of glosses over. In a nutshell, after telling Johnson he was their man, the Tigers have kept recruiting tailbacks and suddenly they weren?t so sure Johnson was their man anymore.

?They wanted to see if I was going to be the tailback they needed,? Johnson said. ?They had a handful of guys they were recruiting. I know they got a commitment from this dude in Ohio, I believe. They just wanted to see if I was the right fit for them. But I?m, like, stuck in the dry if they don?t pick me. So, I mean, rather than sitting here and waiting to see if [LSU] is going to pick me, I?m opening mine up. So if it?s to be, it?s to be. If not, it?s not.?

The truth is, LSU could come back and say, ?We?re sorry, Storm, you?re our man after all,? and Johnson still wouldn?t sign. ?Probably not,? he said. ?I?d probably still keep it opened up.

doesn't Ohio State already have 'their man' and is looking for a compliment (or another bruiser) as well?

I'm a little confused... Are you saying something in this thread says otherwise, or are you searching for a confirmation? Or maybe just observing?

Former Loganville and Buford tailback Storm Johnson is transferring from Miami, according to the ACC school on Tuesday.
?As of this afternoon, Westleigh Storm Johnson is no longer a part of the University of Miami football program,? Miami coach Al Golden said in a statement. ?When these situations arise, we always assist the student-athlete and his family in the transfer process. We wish Storm success in all future endeavors.
Last season as a freshman, Johnson carried 19 times for 119 yards at Miami.
What happened? Here?s some insight from the Miami Herald?s Manny Navarro and Barry Jackson:
Storm?s father, Wes Johnson, said his son had spoken to Golden ?multiple times? about leaving since he took over as coach.
?He wanted to be closer to home. He?s a mama?s boy and the backfield is crowded,? Johnson Sr. said. ?Life is full of surprises. We?re not broken up. It?s his life. Sometimes you have to make hard decisions.?
Johnson, who finished this spring as the team?s No. 3 running back, was one of six players reportedly suspended for the season opener against Maryland ? a report coach Al Golden would neither confirm nor deny during spring practice.
Johnson (6-0, 216) also was reportedly involved in an April 27 incident at a UM residential hall for which school police were called to the scene.
Johnson Sr. said he had been told his son he was ?not suspended? and that none of that played into his son?s decision.
?He?s coming home, going to relax, get into a workout regime and he?ll decide within then next couple weeks what he?s going to do,? Westleigh Sr. said. ?There?s nothing else that needs to be said.
Johnson is the fifth Miami player to seek a transfer since the end of spring practice.

One of Georgia?s top college football prospects from the Class of 2010 has decided on a new school.
Tailback Storm Johnson will transfer to Central Florida, reported the Orlando Sentinel on Friday. Johnson originally signed with Miami and played one season with the Hurricanes after starring at Loganville and Buford high schools.
?Yes sir, Storm committed today and he will start classes on the 22nd,? Wesley Johnson, Storm?s father, told the Sentinel. ?It actually feels quite good just to get the pressure off and be able to resume his college career. He starts off with a clean slate. Coach [George] O?Leary met with us today and coach felt good about [Storm], and Storm felt good about being there.?
