Do you like him more than Gardner?

Way too early to comment on that...I don't think even college coaches have seen enough of them, in person or on film, to determine which they like better.

The early buzz is that both are going to be very good QBs. Gardner is very raw with his mechanics as everybody knows, but is a terror with his feet. Right around the 4.5-4.6 area. Devin shows good touch on throws and has a strong arm but the delivery makes him about 6-2 when he throws it. Bolden is more polished as a passer with just as good of touch but not as much velocity. Really controls the game with his head. Smart player for only being a SOPH last year. Not as fast or quick (4.7/4.8 range) but can still make things happen. Likes to be in the pocket but when he has to make things happen with his feet he can. He also has a better understanding on when to leave the pocket. Both can throw very well on the run. Should be fun to see how the progress over the years.

Funny, because he ran a 4.5 at UofM camp which was faster than other QB including Gardner.

Camp times are not a very good indicator...they have multiple uses for evaluation/recruiting and are often exaggerated one way or the other for those purposes.

After reading crazybuck's 2010 recruiting thread post saying that Bolden may be the first QB offered for next year, I took a look at his film that was recently put on Rivals...very impressive, imo. He may not be quite the athlete that Gardner is (although he isn't far off), but he is a MUCH better passer; better arm and better mechanics. I wouldn't be upset at all if we offered him before Gardner.

Here's the film:

Also, he hooks up with #8 Dion Sims a lot in this video...Sims is very impressive as well.

I am with you...Really like his film, and with Michigan going with Gardner as their offer, I would think that an offer to Bolden could put us in the drivers seat, and I think the staff might want to go the route of the guy that isn't quite as raw as he might have to start fairly early in his career as a RS Soph, and be the backup as a RS Frosh...

Bolden piling up offers
Robert Bolden (Orchard Lake, Mich./St. Mary's) is one of the top Class of 2010 quarterback prospects in the Midwest. The 6-3, 195-pound Bolden has been St. Mary's starting quarterback since the beginning of his sophomore season. He threw for close to 1,000 yards during his junior season.

Bolden has scholarship offers from: Michigan State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Duke and Central Michigan. He has attended games this season at Michigan State and Michigan.

"I liked the whole atmosphere at Michigan State," Bolden said. "I was down on the field, I went into the locker room, and I talked to some coaches. I did pretty much the same things at Michigan."

Bolden said he is looking at all of the schools that he has a scholarship offer from as well as Michigan and Purdue. With his junior football season over, he hopes to attend a number of additional college games in the next month.
