OL Chad Lindsay (stepping away from football)

So we have 8 new OL this year: 5 from recruiting, 2 from the DL, and one blowing in from down south. At some point, that has got to at least add competition. Otherwise, we could have "best student pusher" contests at halftime.

Yup, forgot about Elflein. I'm just hoping Boren doesnt transfer at this point.
The o line is much different than other positions and typically you have to hit jr sr level to even play.
I hope it isn't 'I want the position or I'm gone.' If he wants the position he needs to take it. This is a game of competition. I don't want a buckeye that would rather transfer to where their is less competition to start than push and take the starting role. Rubs me the wrong way. Just saying I hope that isn't the case.

Not to get too far OT, but is there anything other than speculation about Boren? Haven't seen a single article anywhere pointing to a potential transfer.

He'd have to sit a year if he did leave, so he wouldn't really be gaining anything in the process.

Seeing as boren is in a battle with price and price has 3 years of eligibility left to borens 2. Sitting a year and playing one is a lot better than never starting. But again it would be much better for him to take the starting role and start for 2 years.

I would be shocked if Boren does not start at some point (feel free to move this discussion, but obviously Lindsay's transfer here directly drove this question). Urban just seems to really believe in him and I personally think getting Lindsay is more about bringing a talented guy with big-time experience onto an OL with almost no experience, rather than a lack of confidence in Boren or Price's ability. Give Boren another year to bulk up, get experience, and I think he will be the guy.

Also, might wanna get this threat moved

Lindsay being welcomed is not for depth..the staff must feel he is better than what they have by risking a transfer by someone with more eligibility.

The coaches should be putting the best 11 players (that they can get) on the field every year and this includes transfers. The coaches shouldn't be worried about hurting someone's feelings if a recent transfer ends up beating out an existing scholarship player for a starting position (and I don't believe that they are). For Ohio State the "Future Is Now" for every season. Ohio State should be playing for a championship every year. Ohio State doesn't play for future years; at Ohio State they don't rebuild, they just reload.

On cue ...

"Which IMHO says that if Lindsay could have gotten into Michigan's grad program he'd be at Michigan..."
-- SonOfJorEl

Had a party this weekend and two scUM fans in my inner circle were talking. My brother-in-law (one of them) makes it a point to say stuff like this around (he revels in the fact that I'm a big JT fan and loves to rub my nose in it in a passive-aggressive kind of way). That's what I heard, "Lindsay couldn't get into Michigan, so he went to OSU." The typical elitest scUM attitude that OSU is a cakewalk and easy to get into. I was too busy to get into it with him, and it, frankly, isn't worth my time.

Had to get that off my chest. This is just a reminder as to why I will never, ever, root for scUM in anything against anyone ever again.

Great!....regardless of what happened, it's their loss and our gain. So welcome to the Buckeye family Chad and...

Thanks!

Every so often I get to feeling sorry for myself that I'm an only child who married an only child. Then I read about shitbird in-laws like this and realize I don't have it so bad.

Yes, many of them say that. It doesn't make it true.

There was zero talk of that when he was probable to enroll there. When it became clear they were just one of his suitors, that excuse appeared.
