ANDREW BONE: Several recruits visit Tuscaloosa during Tide's Junior Day | TideSports.com

Geno Smith, a National 100 cornerback from St. Pius X High School in Atlanta, is one of the top overall defensive recruits in the country. Smith has reeled in offers from several schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Notre Dame, Stanford, Southern Cal and Virginia Tech. He has visited Alabama several times and has a high interest in the Crimson Tide.

"Jeremy Pruitt (UA assistant coach) is someone who I think very highly of as a coach," Smith reported to Scout.com. "He played at Alabama. They run a pro-style defense, and it would be a great opportunity there for me to learn and keep getting better in what has to be considered an NFL pipeline."

ATL product a big target across the South

By Eric Guimaraes
DB Geno Smith (6-0 170) of Atlanta has offers from across the region and the nation. Clemson, USC, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Miami, Florida, Florida State, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Oregon, Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, and Southern Cal are just some of theschools to have already offered the junior. "Geno is the most talented and athletic player we have ever had since we've been here," said his coach Paul Standard. "We are a private school that plays public schools. He always covers the best wide receiver and locks them down." Smith has been to Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Georgia for their junior days and is planning other trips. "I know he wants to visit Notre Dame and will also head out west," said Standard. "He won't be an early commitment because he wants to take a lot of visits." Standard says that Smith is interested in Clemson and USC. As a junior, Smith had 32 tackles, seven interceptions returning one for a touchdown, and 12 pass breakups. He also rushed 68 times for 752 yards and eight scores and caught seven balls for 57 yards. He does not have a favorite.

Scouting: 2012 CB Geno Smith
TheRinger.com - By Smith - 3/29/2011

Geno Smith is currently the 2nd ranked cornerback in The Ringer 150 and the #43 player overall for 2012. As lofty as that rating is, he has serious potential to climb even higher when we update and expand that list to 300 this summer. When it comes to pure cover corners, we have yet to see any in this recruiting cycle that can match up to Smith. That includes several defensive backs that are ranked ahead of him on our list. He covers like fly paper and he's a threat to score every time he gets his hands on the ball. If Smith can up the physicality of his play and add a little nasty to his game as he travels the camp circuit this year, the sky is the limit for how high he could go.

Smith will give Clemson a chance
By Phil Kornblut

DB Geno Smith (6-0 170) of Atlanta plans to take a visit to Clemson at some point to give the Tigers a close up look. "They have a chance to get in the mix," he said. He has been to Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia and Miami and will go to Florida State April 23rd. Smith said right now he has Alabama and Tennessee at the top of his list, but he added, "I'm wide open. I'm working on my favorites. I hope to have that by the middle of May." Smith said Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, Georgia and Auburn have been recruiting him the hardest. He plans a decision around signing day.

Not much to add to this thread other than that this High School is pretty tough academically. The fact that he is enrolled at St.Px means this young man clearly takes care of work in the classroom, a positive when it comes to his recruitment process.
