Ht:6'9"
Wt:250 lbs
Class:2012 (High School)

Strengths:
With his combination of size and skill level, Parker is one of the elite big men in the 2012 class. He is a space eater in the post who can carve out position on the block. When watching him play you quickly see the skill he possesses; once he catches he has an array of post moves he is capable of throwing at you, led by the left shoulder jump hook. He is very adept at facing the basket from 15' where his soft touch enables him to knock down a jump shot or drive the ball one or two dribbles to the rim. His greatest attribute though is his tremendous hands which are soft and sticky.

Weaknesses:
Over the past year there have been some questions about his stamina and conditioning which was much improved during the July evaluation period. He has obviously worked hard to slim down and cut some body fat. One area Parker could improve to become more dominant, but has a tendency to lose motivation, is on the backboard. If you could get his motor to run at an extra high level Parker could be a terror on the glass. Finally, with continued improvement in his physical conditioning and stamina, Parker will be able to withstand the pace of the game where in the past his level of play dropped quickly when fatigue set in.

Bottom Line:
Parker has been considered a phenom since the ninth grade and reminds me of a Renardo Sidney-type player (big body, great hands, excellent skills) that has the ability to dominate his position. There is no question that Parker is one of the top bigs in this class and possesses the basketball skill to make an immediate impact at the next level.

Basketball: Georgia Tech and UGA recruiting target Tony Parker breaks left wrist
September 26, 2010, by Michael Carvell

Miller Grove High?s Tony Parker, who is one of the nation?s top college basketball prospects for 2012 with more than 40 scholarship offers, including Georgia Tech and Georgia, broke his left wrist over the weekend.

The 6-foot-9, 275-pound power forward got injured while playing against Stephenson in fall league.

?The refs kind of let it get rough out there,? Parker said. ?I was going for a wide-open dunk, and someone came out of nowhere and [collided with me]. I never saw him until the last second.?

Parker busted up his lip and had to get 5 stitches. He also broke his left wrist, and will be out 4-6 weeks.

?I just feel like it?s a minor setback,? Parker said. ?My legs are fine. I can still run and get ready for the start of basketball season.?

Said Miller Grove coach Sharman White, ?It?s unfortunate that it happened. But Tony is young and he should heal quickly. We?re looking at it as a small bump in the road. He?ll be ready for the season.?

Miller Grove is the two-time defending Class AAAA state champions.

Parker said he is nowhere close to making a college decision. He recently took an unofficial visit to Georgia Tech to meet with Yellow Jackets coach Paul Hewitt and is headed to Florida next weekend.

Georgetown and Ohio State recently offered Parker, while he is reportedly close to being offered by Duke.

Thad was at the game....

Miller Grove's 6-foot-9 junior Tony Parker was just too much for the Cougars on the interior. The big-bodied prospect bullied his way to 18 points and 18 rebounds. Parker missed several inside baskets thanks to a swarming Marshall defense, but was usually able to gather his own miss and score the basketball.

Parker spoke of Duke and Ohio State when asked what schools were recruiting him. Though, he mentioned a lot of schools are after him and he is basically open at this point.

I don't know if we will go after him or not because so much depends upon whether the NBA comes to a collective bargaining agreement. If they don't, we will be sitting at 13 next year. Kecman will be the only one who ?leaves? and ER will take that spot leaving us at 13. I guess there might be one transfer but I don't want to even speculate about that.

Right now we need to clear 1 spot for the 2011 class- sounds like it will be Kecman and maybe even Sullinger and/or Buford.

For 2012, Thomas might jump after 2 years and Ross could be a one and done.

There will be room for 1-3 kids in 2012. It sounds like Thad has prioritized a big guy (Coleman, Parker, Hammons, Gathers seem to be some targets).

Back to Parker...here are few recent interviews. Duke will be pretty tough competition.

Free Rivals - Eye-catchers: Flying to the Hoop

Tony Parker, C, Miller Grove
Bossi's take
: The 6-foot-8 junior pivot is a guy who has been highly touted since middle school. During his time at the Flying to the Hoop, he looked as good as we have ever seen. Parker has his body in very good shape, runs the floor and accepts that his game is around the rim. He uses vice-like hands to secure rebounds, plays with physicality and has developed soft touch on spin moves to either shoulder. He's got a wide-open recruitment with Duke, Memphis, Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina and several others involved.

Parker recently traveled to Ohio State with his high school team.

?Columbus is a nice town,? he said. ?It?s a big campus, and I like the school.?

The Buckeyes are currently the No. 1 team in the nation, thanks in large part to freshman forward Jared Sullinger. Parker says he likes the way coach Thad Matta uses Sullinger, adding that he likes Motta?s style in general.

?He?s just a great guy,? Parker said. ?He?s just an all around great guy. He talks to you. He lets you know how he feels about you. He lets you know your strengths and your weaknesses, so it was good to meet him.?

Do Georgia Tech and UGA have a chance at signing 2012 mega-prospect Tony Parker (AJC)

UConn freshman sensation Jeremy Lamb isn?t the only basketball player from the Atlanta they?re talking about in Houston.

Miller Grove High?s Tony Parker is considered one of the nation?s top college prospects for 2012, boasting around 50 early scholarship offers, including Duke, North Carolina, Ohio State, Georgia Tech and UGA.

On Sunday night in Houston, the 6-foot-9, 280-pound Parker was named the South MVP at the inaugural All-American Championship, which featured many of the nation?s top high school players. Parker scored a game-high 21 points, while also posting 9 rebounds.

?It?s even more of a tribute to Tony?s hard work and not being complacent where he is as a basketball player,? Miller Grove coach Sharman White told the AJC. ?Every time he steps on the floor, he wants to dominate. That?s his mindset.?

This past season, Parker led Miller Grove to its third straight Class AAAA state championship while averaging 19 points and 16 rebounds.

Kevin (Durham NC)

Hey Dave, do you think OSU is the leader for Tony Parker? Will Duke be able to sell him on being the next Brand or Boozer.

Dave Telep (2:45 PM)

Kevin, Tony Parker is a major target for a lot of teams. UNC turned up the heat on him. Duke would love to sign him. He's a really good post player because he's gotten into good shape, owns his rebounding area and has legitimate scoring moves. He kind of cracked the code on Nerlens Noel a little last weekend and that's hard to do.

MAXPREPS.COM NATIONAL JUNIOR OF THE YEAR
Tony Parker, Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.)

Parker's breakout junior campaign pushed the Wolverines to their third-straight Class AAAA state title, averaging 17.5 points, 15.6 rebounds and 3.9 blocked shots per contest.

"Tony wants to be the best player, bar none," Miller Grove head coach Sharman White said. "His goals are set higher than just being the best in the state, he wants to be the best player in the nation. He works extremely hard and has a lot of room to grow."

Two of his signature performances came in key games. Against defending Oklahoma state champion Douglass (Oklahoma City) in the semifinals of the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina, Parker turned in 20 points and 27 rebounds to help the Wolverines advance. He capped the season with 21 points and 22 boards against Rockdale County (Conyers, Ga.) in the Class AAAA state championship.

"His desire is one of the things that really sets him apart," White said. "He goes into a game wanting to get 20 points and 20 rebounds. Having that kind of a goal and to be able to go out and make it happen is what makes him special."

Ironically, his most dominant line came in Miller Grove's only official loss of the season, piling up 28 points, 24 rebounds and five blocked shots against Southwest DeKalb (Decatur, Ga.) in February.
