Tony Parker: Atlanta schoolboy legend will announce his college choice on ?
April 2, 2012, by Michael Carvell

Atlanta schoolboy legend Tony Parker has tentatively set the date to reveal his highly-anticipated college basketball decision.

?I think April 11,? Parker told the AJC on Monday night.

The 6-foot-9. 280-pound Parker briefly considered announcing at last week?s McDonald?s All-America basketball game but then decide he would rather do it in front of his family and friends at Miller Grove High School.

Parker, who is ranked as the nation?s No. 21 prospect by ESPNU, also considered announcing at the end of this week.

Now it?s shaping up to be April 11, which is significant because it is the first day of the NCAA?s late basketball period. It ends on May 16.

Ohio State. It?s a long way from Atlanta but they?ve always been near the top. Thad Matta was trying to get to Miller Grove last week but he had something else going on ? something called the Elite Eight.

The writing on the wall does not look good for Ohio State coach Thad Matta in his pursuit of a freshman big man to replace Jared Sullinger next season.

The low-post load the Buckeyes have been chasing ? 6-foot-8, 270-pound Tony Parker of Lithonia, Ga. ? has listed the Buckeyes among his favorites from the start, and at one point they were perceived to being leading the pack.

Lately, though, Parker?s pecking order seems to have changed. He received a visit last week from Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, said to be the favorite of Parker?s father. This week, before leaving for the Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, Ore., Parker texted The Dispatch that he had not heard from Matta about setting up a visit before the spring signing period begins Wednesday.

But an Ohio State source said Parker has stopped returning calls from Buckeyes coaches, a sign that OSU is out of the picture. Matta might go without a recruit in the class of 2012 or look for a spring transfer from another Division I school, such as Evan Ravenel two years ago.

Not a frequent poster and this can be moved if needed but what is the staffs plan B if we lose out on Parker? Additionally, if Seibert transfers it would open up another scholarship for a current recruiting class of 0. Don't be surprised to hear Caris Levert of Pickerington Central to tOSU. Originally committed to Ohio U he has opened things back up after the Groce departure for Illinois. Nebraska and Purdue have entered the picture and Central Head Coach Jerry Francis connections w tOSU could make Levert to tOSU a real possibility.

Tony Parker, the AJC?s Mr. Basketball and one of the nation?s top uncommitted basketball prospects, is unlikely to make his highly-anticipated decision on Wednesday ? the first day of the NCAA?s late signing period.
Over the weekend, there were rumors that Parker had eliminated Ohio State. Parker ?has stopped returning calls from Buckeyes coaches, a sign that OSU is out of the picture,? according to a report in The Columbus Dispatch.

Parker?s coach responded to the report: ?I?d say no comment about that. Well, I don?t think that?s correct. I don?t know. I?m not sure about that. They [Ohio State] are calling me so I know there?s some kind of contact.?

Was told by someone today to buy stock in Etch-a-Sketch.

Just sayin'. Don't blame me if you invest in Hasbro instead.

I tried to get him to narrow it down more but he said no one could because of the parents and Tony's tendency to be a little flaky in making a decision... His gut reaction was UGA but admitted it was purely a guess.
