My personal take....good luck at Michigan.

If there was ever a year that Ohio was loaded at DE it is 2012. Let alone we signed two great ones for this recruiting class. I still think that Kenny Hayes could end up as a DE/DT Kenny Peterson type. Love how we rotate the bigs in and out and stay fresh. Go Bucks

Sidelines: Wormley, Hayes intimidating forces for Whitmer
By STEVE JUNGA BLADE SPORTS WRITER

Whitmer defensive ends Chris Wormley (6-foot-6 junior, 260 pounds) and Kenny Hayes (6-6 senior, 255) are tough for opponents to contain.
( THE BLADE/LORI KING )

In high school football, the glory position on defense is most often the linebacker.

This is certainly not the case at Whitmer, where the defensive anchors for Panthers coach Joe Palka are the defensive ends.

Of course this is no secret locally, where opposing coaches begin and end their offensive game plans trying to figure out the best ways to avoid damage from 6-foot-6, 255-pound senior Kenny Hayes and 6-6, 260-pounder junior Chris Wormley.

This imposing pair lead the defense for Whitmer (3-1, 1-0 City League), which has a crucial league test at home tomorrow against St. John's Jesuit (4-0, 1-0).

Hayes, who verbally committed to Ohio State early last season, and Wormley, a major college recruiting target who has yet to commit, compose what is arguably the most formidable defensive-end tandems the area has ever produced.

?It's special because we're on the same team playing for Whitmer,? Hayes said. ?It would be great if we both end up at Ohio State, and Chris and I are on each end. That would be a blessing.

?It would be nice and I would say there's a good chance,? Wormley said of joining Hayes as a Buckeye. ?But I'm still looking at all my options and hopefully I'll figure out the right thing for me.?

( THE BLADE/JEREMY WADSWORTH )

Wormley has received scholarship offers from Ohio State, Michigan State, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Nebraska, Texas A&M, and Cincinnati.

?Last week [35-12 win at Rogers] Chris had three sacks and I didn't have any,? Hayes said. ?He does a good job. We just push each other to get better and better each week.?

?We don't rub it in each other's faces, but it's kind of a thing to make each other better week by week,? Wormley said. ?We're competitive in who gets there, but it doesn't matter who gets there first, even if it's a linebacker or our tackle, Andrew Maciolek. As long as somebody gets there.

?Kenny's a role model to me and he's like a big brother. I kind of do things my own way, but I take some advice from him. Like with the recruiting process. I take things step by step, and he helps me along the way.?

Hardcore Recruiting Minute Sept 24
Updated: Wednesday, 29 Sep 2010

FOX TOLEDO HARDCORE SPORTS - Possibly, a future teammate of Denard Robinson's could come from right here in Northwest Ohio, and not just Fremont Ross' Greg Brown, or Jack Miller from St. John's.

We're talking Whitmer's Chris Wormley, arguably the hottest local commodity still available, in this week's Hardcore Recruiting Minute.

This past Monday, Wormley received what others dream of getting - a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes - but he was told through an unconventional source, his high school coach, Joe Palka.

"I was kind of shocked," he said. "Like what I didn't hear about it, none of the Ohio State coaches really talked to me about it, so it was kind of exciting, but kind of a shock as well."

Wormley's patiently waiting for all his offers to come in. Considered one of the best defensive linemen in the 2012 class, so far, he has roughly seven offers, including Ohio State, Michigan State, and Illinois. But he definitely has his eye on the team he's loved growing up, the Maize and Blue.

"They're becoming a good program now and their stuff they doing ... definitely still in my top, so we'll see where everything goes," he said.

So far, he's attended Michigan's fan day, which included former Whitmer star Kevin Koger, as well as the season-opening win over Connecticut.

"It gets me excited that they're coming up and becoming the Michigan team that they've always been, and it's just a good thing for them," Wormley said. "The factors for schools would be the football program, which

Michigan's coming up, is a good football program, and academics, and what's best for me and the coaches and everything else."

But even if Michigan offers, Wormley says it's not a definite yes. He wants to take his time, to wait until his senior season before making his decision.

Plus, with current teammate Kenny Hayes heading to Columbus next year, that definitely makes Ohio State at least a little more attractive, even if that scholarship offer this week, caught him off guard.

Since when has offensive and defensive players on the same team not been considered teammates?

I just find it funny that the chance to play with Denard Robinson is the most relevant and exciting thing the writer of that article could think of for a defensive end to go play at Michigan.

It's not a chance to make the defense better, it's not the opportunity play next to quality players on the defensive line, it's not the ability to prepare for and possibly play in the NFL, it's not an opportunity to compete for championships each year... come to Michigan for a chance to be on the sideline while Denard Robinson leads the offense!!

Robinson is literally the only thing Michigan has going for them right now, and like I said, I find it hilarious that they managed to squeeze him into an article about a defensive end from Toledo, highlighting the fact that their defense is so bad that they aren't even worth mentioning.

If what you are saying is true, that might be just the reason for Wormley to join them.

if he does choose to go there then those will almost certainly be the reasons, once again reinforcing my point about how stupid it is to throw Denard Robinson into that article
