'13 FL TE Mike Heuerman (Notre Dame Verbal)

There could well be an NCAA rule involved governing how travel expenses are paid. Who pays for the trip from ND to OSU? Not sure the school can pay for transportation from somewhere other than the students home. Also, the athlete is limited to 48 hours for the official visit. When would his visit to OSU begin if he came here straight from South Bend? I would guess on arrival if we are paying his travel expenses - and I am sure ND would not be paying for him to go to Columbus.

No school can pay for and no player can take official visits until the fall when the players are seniors. Any trips now are unofficial and out of the players's pockets.

Mike has definitely spent a lot of time at ND recently. They're trying to sell him hard on an offense focused around the TE (pointing out how many catches Eifert had last year vs. the number of passes any TE has caught in a year in any Coach Meyer offense) and the TE's they've had drafted highly (and will have with Eifert). We'll see if the other mitigating factors in tOSU's favor will be enough to tip the scales in the end.

I wonder how much the brother factor plays into the decisions of these kids such as mike and jaylon. Even the Pocic brothers.

If it were my brother, I would love to play football with him (and frankly, we would probably have similar desires about coaching philosophy, the direction of a program, the culture of the school) so the same schools would appeal to us.

However, I would think that the Heuerman situation might be a little bit different than most 'brothers to the same school situations'.

In their case, there is a real possibility that they would compete against each other for playing time - I would guess similar to the Kouandijio. (Bama '10 Arie, Bama '11 Cyrus).

The Jones (Mich St. -- Greg/Shane '13) and Pocics (ILL '07 Graham, ?? '13 Ethan) are spread out. The Smiths (Rod/Jaylon) most likely would be at different positions, but one other thing to remember is the Rod and Jaylon go/went to different high schools.

I agree with many of you, I think that Mike H will be a Buckeye.

^ I'm pretty sure I read on twitter, can't remember from who, that the Greg Jones and Shane Jones are not related.

edit: Yes Mike Dyer said that. Shane Jones actually has a brother that plays safety for Pitt but not related to Greg. Sorry for the off topic.
