LSU entered the sweepstakes for one of Georgia?s top prospects at wide receiver, extending an offer to Sandy Creek?s JaQuay Williams on Monday night.

?I?m excited, great school,? Williams told the AJC. He has around a dozen offers, including Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee, Clemson, South Carolina and Georgia Tech.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder recently won the top award at the 2011 Atlanta MVP Camp attended by many of the state?s top college football prospects.

Williams recently transferred from Heard County High School to Sandy Creek, the Fayette County school which has won back-to-back state championships.

Based on the eyeball test alone, there were some impressive-looking prospects at each event. South Carolina and Alabama, probably the thinnest events when it comes to depth of talent, had Aiken, Darrion Hutcherson and Javierre Mitchell lead the way, but the North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia events were loaded with impressive specimens.

In North Carolina, Bullard and Watkins both looked great on the hoof while linebacker Nick Dawson and wide receiver Jody Fuller could have passed for college players.

In Georgia, the list was amazing. Tomlinson, C.J. Curry, Mike Davis, Ukeme Eligwe, Raphael Kirby, Justin Taylor and Jaquay Williams all could have passed for BCS freshmen or sophomores.

From the LSU site...Plans on visiting LSU, Miami & maybe a few other schools he hasn't visited yet over the summer & then make a decision. Begins Spring Practice on Monday is expecting to get a visit from the LSU staff.

Film-wise I actually like Jaquay. Think I'm in the minority on that, but Jaquay has some of the best WR tape I have ever seen from a high-school player.

His body control and route running on tape is exceptional. He doesn't have the size of Dorial Green-Beckham, but he certainly shows a lot more in terms of going up and catching the ball and playing his defender.

In fairness to Green-Beckham, to be that big at high school, it's probably tough to show a lot of skills. He's just that much bigger than everyone. But I really like the skillset of Williams and think his national ranking is very low.

Again, his ability to pinpoint balls over defenders and his hands just really make him stand out...

If you watch the film clips on post #2 you will see the potential is clearly there. I see his biggest upside being a natural ball catcher with great ability to adjust and react to the ball when it enters his area. Look at the first three minutes of clip one (from post #2) and you see him make a few catches that were not in time with the route or proper placement by the QB. He just makes a great last minute ajustment and uses his hands the way you love to see in a WR. His route running is good IMO but could become great after a year or so at the next level. As far as strength he seemed fine but nowhere near that of Green-Beckham, Williams seems long and agile but that just my view point. I also would use the word natural as a better exaple for Williams instead of "Fluidness". Both G-B and Williams can be described as Fluid when seen blowing by high school defenders but William seems to have that natural and effortless nack for finding a way to catch the ball while G-B can be described as more overpowering than his defender. Both are great gets for any program.

By The Bank....Calls Ohio State, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, Tennesee, Florida & Michigan his favorites. Plans on making his decision in a few weeks after his Spring practice concludes. Talks about his interest in Ohio State, Auburn, LSU & Tennessee. Mentions that he grew up a Buckeye fan & that Coach Siciliano visited him recently.

Ohio State or Auburn IMO.....
