BN $ - 'Smoke House' Champ A Buckeye?

8/9

OSU is keeping in contact and he says an offer would change things.

I think the pecking order right now is 1. Gibson 2. Allen 3. Timmons...with guys like Quick and Stevens possibly entering the discussion if they get VERY serious about OSU...they seem like the kind of guys you take and make room for later.

Catching Up with Ryan Timmons: Nebraska Game Visit by Miles Joseph at 11W

Here are a few quotes:

What did the coaches tell you?
They were telling me to stay patient and they were talking about me in every meeting. They said an offer could be close and not to forget about them.

What would it mean to you if you were to receive an OSU offer?
It would help a lot. Coach Meyer is a great coach and has done great things at Florida and at other schools.

What will be the biggest factors in your decision?
How comfortable I am with the school and type of offense they run. I like hurry up/spread offenses and want to be able to run and catch the ball.

Courier Journal - Mr. Football candidate Ryan Timmons heads state all-star roster

10/25

Franklin County High School?s Ryan Timmons, one of the top contenders for Kentucky?s Mr. Football award this season, was among 39 players selected for the Kentucky all-star team that will face a group of Louisville all-stars in December.

The 2012 Best of the Bluegrass All-Star Game is set for 2 p.m. on Dec. 9 at St. Xavier High School.

The Greater Louisville Football Coaches Association will announce the roster for the Louisville-area squad at a later date.

Timmons has helped Franklin County post a 10-0 record entering next week?s Class 5-A playoff opener against Scott. He has rushed for 1,004 yards and 21 touchdowns while also catching 24 passes for 827 yards and 14 TDs.

Timmons and Trinity wide receiver James Quick are considered by many to be the top candidates for this year?s Mr. Football award.

Recruiting Insider | Franklin Co. football's Ryan Timmons in no rush to pick Nov 3, 2012

The Courier-Journal

bilde

FRANKFORT, KY. ? Franklin County football star Ryan Timmons is making his second official recruiting visit this weekend, to Purdue ? one of a group of Big Ten and Southeastern conference schools drawing the attention of one of the state?s most explosive players.

Timmons, the 5-foot-11, 180-pound wide receiver/running back/return specialist, had an 80-yard touchdown catch Friday night as the Flyers (11-0) defeated Scott High 48-10 in the first round of the Class 5-A playoffs.

He said he has no favorite and plans to wait until Franklin County?s season ends before making a college decision.

He and his mother left early Saturday for Purdue to watch its game against Penn State, and he already has officially visited Arkansas and unofficially visited the University of Kentucky and Ohio State. All but the Buckeyes have made a scholarship offer.

He plans to also visit Ohio State and Illinois officially at some point and is unlikely to take an official visit to UK because he has been there many times before.
Timmons impressed Ohio State?s coaches at a camp and said he talks to the Buckeyes every week. Ohio State, limited in scholarships because of NCAA probation, could have a spot open depending on the plans of other prospects or roster changes.

?Coach (Urban) Meyer wants me to be a Buckeye, so when I go up there with my mom ? we?ll be able to better sort it out (about an offer),? he said.

Louisville Courier-Journal - Sunday notebook focuses on Ryan Timmons

11/4

Here?s the link to Sunday?s Courier-Journal recruiting notebook, which led with an update on the recruitment of Franklin Co. High School WR/RB/ATH Ryan Timmons, who is top target of the University of Kentucky and a candidate for Mr. Football this year.

I watched Timmons? game against Scott High on Friday in the first round of the playoffs, and it?s easy to see why he?s a major college prospect ? great speed and lateral quickness, ? he?s particularly great on start-and-stop moves ? and good size for a slot receiver at 5-10, 180.

He?s set to return from an official visit to Purdue today. He?s already been to Arkansas and expects to officially visit Illinois and Ohio State (no offer yet). He said he probably won?t officially visit UK, where he?s been many times already unofficially.

Timmons said he doesn?t have any favorite at this point.

Space in the newspaper is clearly more limited than here on the blogs, so I plan to post some more on Timmons with comments from his coach, Chris Tracy.

***One item not mentioned in the notebook but was in Friday?s Courier-Journal and that I have mentioned on the blog: Trinity stars James Quick (likely the favorite for Mr. Football) and Jason Hatcher were selected to play in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, in January.

Trinity?s Bob Beatty is one of the head coaches in the game, too.

Hatcher, a defensive end, is committed to Southern California.

Quick, a wide receiver, is arguably the top remaining target of Louisville in the 2013 class and also is considering Ohio State, Oregon, Kentucky and Tennessee. The Buckeyes are thought to be the Cardinals? top competition to land Quick.

(Interestingly, what happens with Quick and Ohio State could affect Timmons. Quick has an offer from Ohio State, which has decreased scholarships this year as a part of NCAA probation. If Quick were to pick Louisville, that?s an offer that could potentially go to Timmons. They?re not the same type of player ? Quick figures to be a college wideout, I?d think ? and Timmons is probably a slot guy who could play some tailback. But if the Buckeyes don?t get Quick, maybe they?ll look to Timmons to help round out their class on offense.)
