INDIANAPOLIS -- Kept relatively quiet for most of the game against Cathedral, ESPN 150 receiver James Quick (Louisville/Trinity) showed in a matter of seconds in the fourth quarter why he is one of the country's most explosive playmakers.

On the first play of a drive that followed a Cathedral touchdown to cut Trinity's lead to 1, Quick caught a bubble screen behind the line of scrimmage and went 72 yards for a touchdown, putting the game out of reach.

"We've been running it in practice the last couple years and it's been a success, and once you see open daylight you've got to take it," said Quick, who finished with eight catches for 162 yards.

The University of Louisville football team remains well-positioned in the recruitment of Trinity High School wide receiver James Quick, a top contender for Mr. Football and one of the nation?s best prospects.

The 6-foot, 180-pound Quick reaffirmed after Friday night?s Trinity victory over St. Xavier that U of L is No. 1 on his recruiting list, followed, in order of preference, by Ohio State, Oregon, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Why have the Cardinals remained on top?

?Just the fact that it?s close to home, and I like what they?re doing ? offensively,? said Quick, who has attended U of L?s three home games this season on unofficial visits.

Tennessee is new to the top five, moving ahead of Cincinnati.

He had eight catches for 144 yards, including a 75-yard touchdown reception, in Friday night?s 34-7 victory over St. X. He has 51 receptions for 862 yards and eight TDs this season for top-ranked Trinity (6-0).

In an interview on Sept. 14, the day before he attended U of L?s game against North Carolina, Quick said he?d been impressed with the efficiency of Cards? quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.

Quick, ranked as the nation?s No. 57 senior by ESPN.com, said when he attends games he tries to evaluate how the Cards? receivers are involved in the offense and how he might fit in.

?I see a lot of the things they do there that we do here at Trinity,? he said. ?I?m just thinking I could fit right in with the receivers they have now, and with Teddy Bridgewater as my quarterback, I could really fit in with that offense.?

Quick said he?ll attend Ohio State?s home game against Nebraska on Saturday.

He has said a decision could come in January after he takes five official visits.

I have said for a while James is the 2nd best receiver on this years team. I have watched him play since 10th grade, he is Ginn 2.0. I would throw the house at him this weekend.

He seems like a more pure WR an route runner than ging, imo. Ginn kind of just ran posts and deep outs and burned everyone. He seems more like santonio Holmes to me than ging

One of Ohio State?s final 2013 targets, ESPN 150 receiver James Quick (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) made the trip north to Columbus on Saturday for an unofficial visit.

It was his second visit to Ohio State but his first for a game, and the scene at Ohio Stadium blew Quick away.

?They have great fans. That?s what really caught my attention. The most impressive thing is how loud the fans got,? he said, adding it was the loudest game he has ever been to.
