Jacobs is averaging 22.9yds per touch! That's pretty electrifying
Deshawn Jackson... Smaller but just so versitle. It'll be interesting to see what happens next year considering most of our offense returns.
Marshall, Zeke, Jacobs, and hopefully even Gibson will be interesting people to watch. They all have talent that will explode in this offense.
Last week Taivon had 314 all purpose yards last week( 8 catches for 200yds)
Today: taivon had 4 catches 142yds 2tds
Kid really needs to learn how to make more out of his touches.
Some video on the site too if interested. Kid can fly.
Suitland?s Taivon Jacobs chooses Ohio State- Washington Post video
Should fit our offense well, but he sure looks small, can't help but wonder if he'll need to redshirt to add some muscle before bringing his speed to the field.
Percy Harvin was 5'11", 182 lbs his senior year in high school. Jacobs is 5'11", 165 lbs. He should have no problem putting on 10-15 lbs of good weight in the next nine months or so. Even Ted Ginn was 165 lbs his senior year of high school, and he lit it up his freshman year at Ohio State. If Jacobs redshirts it won't be because he's too light...
Considering that Jeff Demps is listed as 5-7 175 and Ginn was no more than 5-11 180, I would say that Jacobs has the size to play right away.
Watch some of his SR film on Hudl, and the thing that jumped out even more than the obvious speed was his instincts on what to do with the ball. Outside of Jalin Marshall, I'm not convinced that any of our skilled position targets, including Quick, is better than Jacobs.
edit: looks like Mili beat me to it.
Good call on Jeff Demps...
Percy is a freak of nature and can carry much more weight than your average scat back. A much better comparison (for size) is Tavon Austin, who is still just 171 lbs in his third year, if WVU's profile is accurate.
There are a lot of 170-175 lb slot / scat backs out there, and with Hall, Brown, Marshall splitting carries, Jacobs could get some touches without being asked to take that many hits.
This thread has a fever! And the only prescription.. is more dancing bananas!!

Let's not also forget about Brandon James (5'7'' 175) and Chris Rainey (5'9'' 180). Both were dynamic in space, quite small but had great speed on the edge. Just like taivon. And both got reps in their frosh years. I think Jacobs will make more of an impact as a pr/kr his frosh year, before making an impact in the slot
