Taivon Jacobs (Maryland WR)

:yow2::yow2::yow2: Wow Taivon is fast! In terms of pure jets and top end speed, probably the fastest guy in this class for us...film reminds me a lot of Lamar Thomas. I do think he is going to end up being a very good pure WR for us. His routes are rough but he is so smooth in and out of his cuts, he is going to have a deadly double move once Coach Smith gets ahold of him. Plus he has good body control and awareness of the sideline when he goes up for the ball...he had some really nice toe-drag catches. I think he could really benefit from a redshirt to work on his routes and more importantly, bulk up a bit (he is pretty tiny right now) but he is going to be special for us eventually.

I think he could be a good DB too. Exciting to have him in the class.

I got shouted down for saying the same thing a couple pages ago. I do agree with you that he is one of those rare guys like Brad Roby or Teddy Ginn with the chance to start on whichever side of the ball he ends up on. In terms of D, he'd have the same issue Ginn would have had, which is his size as he looks pretty skinny, so offense is more likely I'd think.

Speaking of Teddy, that's who he reminds me of with those long strides. It's really rare to see a guy under 6 feet that can cover so much ground with such long strides. He could be an immediate impact guy on punt returns.

Rivals $ - Jacobs talks official visit to Ohio State

1/14

Committed to OSU because he felt like it was a place where he could make a positive change in his life...recaps his visit...staff projects him in the slot...talks about how he heard from a lot of people that he wasn't worthy of an OSU offer and set out to prove them wrong this year.

Impressive interview...although this is noteworthy from both interviews:

If he is solid to Ohio State: "I am a solid commit to the Buckeyes. Its where I can see myself playing. I am considering taking an official visit to Maryland though. It is a possibility."

Seems we should take his word for it. I remember some people were worried last year when Devan Bogard took an OV to USC, but that turned out okay.

I wonder who was telling him he wasn't worthy of an tOSU offer. I really hope it wasn't Buckeye fans. Taivon proved himself to the staff at camp, and that is good enough for me.
