2013 '13 MI OL David Dawson (Michigan Verbal)

Discussion in 'Football Recruiting' started by MD Buckeye, Jul 21, 2012.

  1. To be fair, he was totally up front with SDSU when he was hired about the fact that if he was offered the um job, he was gonzo.

This, plus I don't believe he pressures kids to commit early.

I read something in the Free Press I think from a 2014 recruit, Parker Westphal, and he said Michigan was telling him to take his time, and commit when he's ready.

Dawson had all the big offers when he committed, he was a pretty known commodity.

As far as Conley goes, his only other offers were MAC offers. He got the offer from Michigan and jumped on it. Now that Ohio State and Oregon are calling he is having second thoughts and wants to explore his options. Can't blame him, but it's not like Hoke pressured him to commit. Michigan was literally one of his only offers at the time of his commitment.

Hoke's saying that now, in 2012. His tune will likely change once the calendar has a "3" as the fourth digit of the year.

The idea if WI being in the race is great because tOSU is closer than Madison.

Although WI has a great reputation for development o-line players, I think that was lost two coaches ago.

MSU does have a way of development unheralded players, but tOSU beat MSU.

Warinner seems to have the upper hand now, and that should be on display during the next two games. tOSU controls its own destiny.

I like the positive attitude, but I have a feeling this all about being close to home. In fact, if Michigan didn't have their policy, I bet he would have ended up back at Michigan. The reason why would be major speculation on my part, yet being as close as possible to home suddenly became a major issue. While Ohio State is not far, MSU is still only about 90 minutes from Detroit while Ohio State is 3 1/2 hours. Plus Michigan State, just from a perception standpoint, feels closer to Detroit. Many more MSU fans there than OSU, and certainly there is more media coverage.

I guess I get the proximity to home thing, but MSU is just terrible. I mean, this was supposed to be their year in the BiG and they just pooped the bed. 5-5 currently and another good chance at a loss against Northwestern and I would think that Dantonio's seat gets a little warm.

    Now, I am confused.

There is a ferry across Lake Michigan to Wiscy, but how does one get to Tuscaloosa quickly from Detroit? Burrow through the earth? Bullet train?

maps.google routes travelers from Detroit through Ohio on the way to Alabama, passing just a football's throw from the Shoe.

Anyway, Urb gets the first shot at him.

A stud is a stud. It's easy to focus on tackles but something tells me that if we land this guy as our last O Line recruit we will be just fine with this class.
