'13 TN ATH Cornelius Elder (Miami FL Signee)

No one lays a hand on him. This dude has some serious wheels. Urb says he wants speed.....

He and Munger are the two biggest wildcards to me...because they are guys with offers who you could make a case that OSU really wants but I'm not sure how to fit them in my class projections if OSU gets the other guys they are actively pursuing. Frustrating with the scholarship reduction. Elder is a kid I have warmed to as this process has gone on and would love to see OSU land him.

So even with strong staying put, and quick most likely staying home, that you still think we pass on elder?

Corn Elder: 2012 Tennessean football player of the year

Father Ryan coach Bruce Lussier remembers a play against Ensworth?s freshman football team in 2009 that gave a hint of Corn Elder?s potential.

Ensworth quarterback Andrew Bowers broke his collarbone in that game, so the Tigers replaced him with Elder.

?(Ensworth) snapped it over Corn?s head, and he runs back 10 or 15 yards to go retrieve the ball,? Lussier said. ?We?re chasing him, and then he ends up going 60 yards for a touchdown. That created some space for him.?

Opponents have learned since then that giving Elder space is a big mistake.

The Tigers? tailback went on to lead his team to three straight Division II-AA titles. He is The Tennessean 2012 high school football player of the year.

?I think he?s as good a running back as I?ve been around, and I?ve seen a lot of them over the years,? said Lussier, a 39-year veteran. ?But he has other skills as well. He?s a tremendous punt returner. He can go out and play receiver. He does a great job for them at safety on defense, so he can do a lot of different things.?

Elder, a senior, rushed for 2,618 yards and 39 touchdowns this season. That gave him 6,361 career yards, ranking him ninth in state history.

He helped Ensworth (13-0) become the fifth school to win three straight titles.

Quick announces at the UA all star game for Louisville and Elder is a Buckeye. IMO of course but I really don't see Quick choosing OSU over Louisville now that Strong stayed. I like Quick's frame a little bit more but both can out right fly with the football in their hands. Would be more than happy to have either. :osu:

I get the feeling that Elder is more of the slot/rb/motion man type hybrid player that our new head coach has been famous for while Quick would fill a more traditional roll in what we need as a true wide out. Just my opinion. This is not say one is better or more desirable than the other just that they would fill different rolls.

I can agree with that. But if we're able to get Gibson, then he can fill that traditional WR role and allow elder to be more easily used in a hybrid role. It'd be interesting to see corn and jalin fighting over that hybrid spot for pt

Agree with you both...I have a feeling that Gibson commits soon after or during his visit as well does Corn Elder as an additional ath (I'd like Timmons if Elder goes elsewhere...hmhmmm UCLA). Gibson would fill that roll of the "traditional" WR you guys were talking about that Quick would have been. It's a shame really...I wanted Quick to pull the trigger but understand his loyalty to his home town.
