Kyle Allen talks Buckeye visit $

Clearly not since the staff is telling everyone they are waiting to evaluate senior film before offering, but Allen certainly seems to be in the mix with guys like Barker, Henderson, and Kizer for that offer.

Same high school as verbally offered '14 AZ WR/TE Mark Andrews.

If he and Andrews are a package deal, I would probably move Allen near the top of my 2014 QB list. Andrews is a stud, and this kid is very good in his own right.

Not as big as Henderson, and not really the kind of athlete you would think Meyer would want, but he can sling it.

FWIW, Scout moved him up to #21 overall in their rankings (top rated QB) after a recent impressive camp performance.

I know nothing about playing QB, but it just looks like Allen has above average footwork that allows him to step out of pressure rather than scrambling. And he also steps nicely into his throws. Pretty good prospect.

Wow, this offer has caught me by surprise. I saw Harris and Barker as ahead of Allen on their big board. I guess I was wrong. This kid can certainly sling the rock.

By Jewell.....tOSU watched him throw yesterday & he was offered by Coach Meyer today. Threw for 3,119 yards, 36 TDs, 7 INTs & completed 72% of his passes last year.

You're darn right I am  Might put us in the driver seat, at least near the top. I really had Barker as 1A and Allen as 1B behind Watson...Allen is the best pro-style QB in the country imo. Kid can make every throw in the field and the ball gets out of his hand in a HURRY. Needs to quit releasing the ball off his shoulder on the deep ball but easy fix. Love how he dips his shoulder to avoid pressure at the precisely right time and squares back up to his target on the run. Everyone is worried about how his skill-set would work in this offense but UFM has proven time and time again, he will mold his scheme to the most talented players he has (see Hyde flourishing here).

Also I think he flashes plenty of ability to avoid the rush and keep the play alive...with the weapons he will have here, that is all he needs to do. Really throws the ball on the run as well as I have seen and makes quick decisions when its there. If we want someone to run the read, they will be available to rotate in (see Cardale and Barrett, plus we have offered a slew of dual-threat '15 guys). I like the idea of having such a prolific passers and with his lightning release, velocity, and accuracy I think he could have a world of fun with Marshall, Clark, Wilson, Lattimore, etc. down the road. The quicker the ball gets in their hands, the more time they have to do their work. He can throw the deep ball too and get it to our vertical guys, plus has great touch to get it to our go-up-and-get-it guys (see Adrews below hopefully, and Blacknall if we can pull him off). UFM wouldn't have offered him immediately if he didn't see the fit...imo he is just too great of a talent to pass on and I think Scout has it right with a 5 star rating.

Throw in the fact that getting Allen would likely get us Andrews too and I am ecstatic...the two have a great rapport already and Andrews is one of my favorite offensive players of this class.

I like your enthuism towards allen, but, imo, when thinking of pure pocket qbs in the urban meyer offense i picture the john brantley fiasco. Maybe there was more to that story but I just try and picture going from an incredibly athletic qb to one who sits in the pocket and my fears of him not suiting this offense come up. Maybe and hopefully I'm wrong and I have no problem with that but like others I saw barker and Harris first and also hasn't Allen's arm been questioned? Still very early and a lot of time to prove me wrong. Interested in hearing your opinion on my flawed view
