'14 GA DE Lorenzo Carter (Georgia Signee)

Another Alabama-UGA recruiting battle brewing?
By Michael Carvell

It?s shaping up to be another Alabama vs. UGA battle for one of the state?s top college football recruits.

Defensive end Lorenzo Carter, who is ranked as the state?s No. 1 overall prospect in the 247sports composite rankings, will trim his list of favorite colleges to 10 next month.

The 6-foot-5, 237-pounder wasn?t ready to reveal his top 10 this week, but he did say that two colleges will definitely be in there ? UGA and Alabama.

What does Carter like about Alabama? What about UGA? He talks about both in the video.

An Alabama-UGA recruiting battle would be nothing new at Norcross High School. This past February, running back Alvin Kamara signed with the Crimson Tide over UGA. Kamara and Carter are buddies. How will Kamara?s decision affect Carter?s? We asked in the video.

Carter currently boasts 35 scholarship offers, and has narrowed down 26 that he?s looking closely at. He will announce his college decision next February on signing day.

AJC - State's No. 1 prospect talks UGA, Notre Dame and ... Florida

6/26

This past weekend, Carter made pit stops at Notre Dame (which went better than expected) and Ohio State (which didn?t go as well because coach Urban Meyer wasn?t on campus).

What was your impression of Ohio State? "I didn?t really get to see anything. None of the coaches were there. Coach Meyer left before I got there. Nobody was there. It was just (offensive coordinator Tom Herman), the coach who recruits me ? he was there with his son. We just walked around their football building and saw the indoor field and the practice fields. Then we got dinner. When I woke up, (defensive line coach Mike Vrabel) came. We ate breakfast, went by the stadium and Buckeye Grove. And that?s it. We left. Ohio State was just a drive-through. We didn?t really do anything."

Was that a bummer not to see more at Ohio State? "It was kind of disappointing but it was whatever."

Lots of confusion and misdirection on this one.

Previously said he didn't want to travel further than 5 hours to play in college - currently considering Notre Dame and Oregon.
Formerly a silent Bama commit now lists Florida as his leader.
Wants to make a decision that's best for him and his family, but how does he address the rumor that he would like to play with Raekwon McMillan?

I think it's somewhat telling IMO that most of the Coaches weren't around when he "stopped by" OSU. For being such a highly rated recruit, it didn't seem like OSU was ready to give him the red carpet treatment. I get a weird vibe from it all.

Besides Holmes committing right before Carter's visit. Staff may have got the guy they wanted.
