Penn State Football: Class of 2014 Quarterback Drew Barker on Nittany Lions Radar
by Nate Mink on July 02, 2012

It?s never too early to talk potential Penn State quarterbacks, even if they?re barely old enough to drive a car.

And Drew Barker, a dual-threat prospect for the Class of 2014, certainly is on Penn State?s radar.

The Burlington, Ky., native toured Penn State and participated in an advanced skills camp last month. No scholarship offer has been extended yet, according to various recruiting websites, but he is only 16 years old and entering his junior year of high school. There?s time.

?It was really awesome,? Barker said of his visit. ?I saw all of the facilities, and when I went out on the field I thought that was the best part. It was like a jaw-dropping experience when you walk out of the tunnel and you see the Penn State logo and you can just feel all the tradition and that.?

Rivals Free Video - Barker brings home MVP hardware from Dallas

7/11

DESOTO, Texas - Class of 2014 quarterback Drew Barker has continued to have a stellar summer as he gets ready to enter his junior year of high school. The 6-foot-3, 204 pound quarterback already has half a dozen offers and is picking up more and more interest from BCS programs.

Over the weekend Barker made the trip from Burlington (Ky.) to the Dallas metroplex to take part of the first annual Rivals Underclassmen Challenge and the big time quarterback did not disappoint bringing home the "Sleeper Award", but Barker admitted after the camp it came down to the coaches not wanting to have two MVPs at quarterback but still wanting to honor Barker for being one of the top performers of the camp.

Barker has not been shy about his interest in Ohio State and has made a couple of trips to Columbus (Ohio) over the past couple of months but as of yet no offer is in hand. Barker plans to make one more trip to Ohio State at the end of the month for Urban Meyer's first Friday Night Lights camp at Ohio State.

We caught up with Barker after the camp to have him break down his performance over the weekend and get his feelings about how his recruiting is going and some insight as to when he would like to end it all and announce a decision of where he will play college football.

QB Drew Barker to take unofficials

There will be a big 2014 quarterback taking in the Ohio State game on Saturday as Drew Barker (Hebron, Ky./Conner) will watch the Buckeyes play Miami (Ohio) on an unofficial visit.

He will then travel to Louisville on Sunday to watch the Cardinals play Kentucky.

Barker camped at Ohio State’s Friday Night Lights on July 27 and walked away very impressed as did Ohio State coaches.

QB Drew Barker enjoys Meyer's OSU debut
September, 2, 2012
By Brad Bournival | ESPN.com

Drew Barker (Hebron, Ky./Conner) was at Ohio State?s spring game and he participated in the school?s Friday Night Lights camp in July.

But nothing prepared the 2014 quarterback for what he saw Saturday on his unofficial visit to The Horseshoe when the Buckeyes knocked out Miami (Ohio) in a 56-10 win in front of 105,039 fans.

?It probably will be a real historical event once his career is done at Ohio State. To say I was there for the first game of the Urban [Meyer] era was pretty cool,? Barker said. ?It was pretty crazy with all the people cheering.
