'14 MD QB William Crest (West Virginia Verbal)

I'm not sure why you'd compare the two. Crest is listed as a Dual-Threat QB on Rivals.

Because Urban's offense requires the QB to be a true running threat. His highlights show that he has the ability to move in the pocket, but can he handle the keepers up the middle and to the corner. This kid is obviously more mobile than Brantley, but doesn't really leave the pocket much in the vids I've seen. Granted, I haven't seen every play the kid has run, but a pocket passer won't work as well with Urban's offense. That's why I mentioned Brantley. Also, I don't know what prompts them to list him as a dual-threat (again, based just on the vids I've seen) other than his skin color (not meant as racist in any way, just a statement on the previous history of how QBs are judged).

Calvert Hall Pounds State Champ Dunbar in I-95 Classic

Article14%20Dunbar%20Poets%20-%20William%20Crest.jpg

Dunbar junior quarterback William Crest has rough start to 2012 high school football season as the Poets fall hard to Calvert Hall in the I-95 Football Classic on Aug. 31 at Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, Md. (AFRO Photo)

A short field goal pushed Calvert Hall?s lead to 10-0 at the top of the second quarter, but Dunbar responded with a scoring drive of its own, capped off by junior quarterback William Crest with a 1-yard touchdown run.

Dunbar trailed only 10-6 at halftime and it seemed as if fans would have a very close game to watch until the final whistle blew. Instead, Dunbar wouldn?t come close to reaching the end zone for the rest of the game as Calvert Hall eventually ran away with the lopsided victory.

Dunbar's Crest went on to finish completing only 8-of-20 passes for 139 yards, two interceptions and rushing touchdown.

Buckeyes Looking at the Next Geno Smith?
By Michael Chung

Urban Meyer loves recruiting quarterbacks, and he may have another good one in his sights for the class of 2014.

The Knights of old had a representative symbol on their helmets and shields called Crests. Lions were the most common symbol and Ohio State has already offered a ferocious football player from Baltimore, Md. named William Crest.

It is no secret the Buckeyes have one spot for a quarterback in the 2014 class, and they are looking at a number of prospects, including a pocket passer out of Arizona named Kyle Allen.

If Meyer prefers a more mobile quarterback, he could make a strong push for Crest, who models his game after West Virginia quarterback Geno Smith.

Standing 6-2 and weighing 195 pounds out of Dunbar High School in Baltimore, Crest already holds an offer from the Mountaineers, along with Ohio State, Virginia Tech and Maryland.

The Buckeyes would love to have Crest come to OSU as an ATH/QB prospect similar to Darron Lee and Jalin Marshall. Would Crest follow their lead?

Ozone: When did you receive an OSU offer?

Crest: I received an offer from OSU during my 10th grade year. Can?t give an exact date right now.
