'14 NJ WR Saeed Blacknall (Rutgers Decommit; Penn State Verbal)

LSU Football Recruiting: Saeed Blacknall Names Tigers As Leader
Jul 14th, 2013
by Ricky Widmer

On Sunday, 2014 wide receiver Saeed Blacknall went ahead and named the LSU Tigers as his leader during day one of the LSU Elite Camp. Blacknall is one of the top 5 prospects from the state of New Jersey and is ranked 140th on the FanSided150 Class of 2014 Football Rankings.

Back on May 22nd, Blacknall went ahead and named his Top Five which included the LSU Tigers, Alabama Crimson Tide, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Florida State Seminoles, and Ohio State Buckeyes.

Its now clear that LSU is the front runner to land the Top 20 WR, but many recruiting experts have been saying the Tigers will gain his commitment since late April/early May.

All twenty-seven experts on 247 Sports? Crystal Ball have the Englishtown, New Jersey native committing to LSU.

Saeed Blacknall, the 6-3, 210-pound receiver, visited Rutgers Saturday with his parents. The trio finally got the opportunity to take the full Rutgers tour. They sat down for an academic presentation and also got to spend time with multiple Rutgers staff members and players. Staff members they spent most time with included wide receivers coach, Matt Simon, and head coach, Kyle Flood, who reiterated to Blacknall the importance of his acquisition in moving into the Big Ten conference.

Blacknall plans to make his commitment before the start of the season, which begins on August 26 against Monroe Township (N.J.). Up until recently, LSU was considered the favorite in the race for his services with Alabama second. But things appear to have opened up since Blacknall took visits to both LSU and Alabama a couple weeks back. Blacknall has completed his unofficial visit tour, therefore, the three finalists for his services appear to be Rutgers, LSU and Alabama.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but this is definitely a great pick-up for Rutgers, and I'm happy to see it. Rutgers could develop into a consistently strong football team if they can keep the in-state talent. As much as I'd like OSU to get some stars out of NJ, I'd love to see Rutgers become a team that keeps most of their talent at home.
