Donnell Stanley

OL Donnell Stanley of Latta has gone thru a bit of a recruiting lull this summer but that's about to change. He will embark on a quick southern trip this weekend that will move him closer to a decision. Stanley will be at Alabama Monday for a half-day camp and will go from Tuscaloosa to Ole Miss for a visit. From Oxford, he and Latta assistant coach Chris German will drive to LSU for a visit. Stanley has a top six of USC, Clemson, North Carolina, Alabama, Ohio State and LSU and after these visits he plans to cut his list to four. German said Stanley had to cancel a trip this month to Ohio State but will take an official visit there. As for USC's camp this month, Stanley has a vacation planned for that week and his brother may be involved in a baseball tournament, so he's not sure he'll make that. And Florida State contacted them Tuesday night and they plan to get back in touch with the Seminoles. Right now Stanley plans to wait until the Under Armour Game to announce though Germain said Tuesday night, "I don't think he'll last that long." German said Stanley should have a number one after next week's visits.

I'll be very surprised if that tOSU visit occurs.

Change of travel plans for Stanley

By Phil Kornblut
OL Donnell Stanley of Latta was scheduled to camp at Alabama and visit Ole Miss and LSU this week. He did camp at Alabama but the other two stops were canceled. Stanley went to a half day camp in Tuscaloosa Monday and later toured the facilities and met with head coach Nick Saban and assistants Chris Rumph and Mario Cristobal, the offensive line coach. "He really enjoyed it," said Latta assistant coach Chris German who is traveling with Stanley. "He got there and talked to coach Rumph. He didn't know coach (Kevin) Steele was at Alabama and he came in and surprised him. He hasn't seen him since he (Steele) was at Clemson. He met with coach Cristobal and they hit it off. He said he was very impressed with his film and how he worked in the morning." Stanley was supposed to go to Ole Miss Tuesday but none of the coaches were there. After that, the decision was made not to go to LSU. Stanley has been in touch with coaches from North Carolina and Florida State and plans to talk with USC offensive line coach Shawn Elliott Wednesday. He also has Clemson and Ohio State on his final list and he plans to shorten that list in a week or so. He will then set his official visits and German expects Ohio State and LSU to get two of them. Right now Stanley plans to wait until the Under Armour Game to make his announcement but German feels he could do something before his season. Stanley has not identified a favorite.
