While Hurd has elusiveness and speed, he definitely runs with power too. Watch the highlights again. Rarely does he go down on first contact. When I watched him in person this year he was trucking DBs and running through linemen and linebackers who were trying to make arm tackles.....that is, when he wasn't running by them.

I'm sure since you got to see him in person you have a better perspective on his style. But from watching that vid, imo, he does run out of arm tackles, but he doesn't actually truck guys and a stiff arm them like AD. He still reminds me of Dickerson and also McFadden. None of these comparisons is negative at all. This kid is very very talented and were all probably just nitpicking. He did break a number of tackles but he was more elusive than running with power like Hyde and Dunn. I just want the ball in his hands and let him do work

If Jalen does go scarlet & gray, would he be the only one that Ohio State takes in this class?

    BN$--Hurd getting major attention

Jalen says Florida, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Vanderbilt will definitely be in his final group. He says he grew up a Tennessee fan.

Hurd is a taller Robert Smith IMO

I see a taller Robert Smith. That slight change of direction in tight spaces, the enormous stride, that neither one of them ever got caught from behind. I tried to find buckeye highlights from 92 but all I could get was this vikings run.

We can agree to disagree. But I dont see how you can compare 2 guys with different body types. A taller robert smith, doesnt necessarily run like the robert smith we remember, possibly. Robert had a lower center of gravity, and his strides weren't as long as jalen's because jalen is almost 6'3''! They both do outrun defenders, but I dont see similarities after that. Tall, rangy RBs are few and very good ones are even rarer, because they're usually moved to WR. Which jalen has the athleticism to play as well, and Robert could not. Different athletes, imo.

Kind of hard to tell how good he is going up against that competition as he is just so much better.

Reminds me of Ty Isaac who was rated similarly at this time last year, but then was exposed a bit when he faced legit talent in the All Star game.

I guess in Hurd's favor compared to Isaac is that 40 time. Even if it is inflated a little bit, that speed will play.

One thing that stood out to me in his highlight was so many long runs and big play qualities. This goes with the speed as you mentioned, but he was often in the middle of everything in those highlights but used his size to make space and then leaves everyone behind. But I wondered what type of competition it was myself, maybe someone has some insight here?

Ty Isaac would be sick in Urban's offense...so would Hurd

It is terrible. Lower level in Tennessee, where even the higher levels aren't great.

I saw someone said he did not play against a single player who received an FBS offer last year. That would be almost impossible even at the lowest levels of Ohio high school football.
