His explosion off the line is really good, but he plays entirely too high- which he gets away with because the competition doesn't look like the best and he is just stronger and quicker than everyone else.

Still, he is only a sophomore in those highlights so it is impressive how far along he is from a physical standpoint at such an early age. You can learn to play low and with "violent hands" as Vrabel calls them.

Sounds like this is going to be a big event for the '14 class. Side note: Another reason I would like to see Derrick Green in this class is further inroads to Virginia...Brown, Hand, and Blanding may all be top 10 players overall in the nation next year + we are in the thick of it for all of them. Plus Henderson is big time at QB.

Just wondering, but how would green help with the 2014 va recruits when he's not from an area really close to any of them. Hand plays somewhat close in northern va, but brown and blanding play in the south eastern part of the state and there's always been a state rivalry between north and south. At least grant could help with green since they went to the same HS. I don't think green even plays any of their teams

There are these new inventions called internal combustion engines, the internet and phones that really facilitate communication over long distances. In addition to players in the same state communicating and attending football camps with each other despite being from different areas, it has also really helped Ohio State's coaching staff in their efforts to recruit outside of the 25 mile radius surrounding the WHAC.

Chesapeake is roughly the same distance from Richmond as Woodbridge. Both are 60+ miles so I'm not getting where Hand is "somewhat close" to Richmond.

The somewhat close, is that they're still in the northern va area. And there is a divide between the state in sports as far as rivalries go. Just like cincinnati is an hour from dayton and cbus, but dayton and cincinnati are viewed more as southern Ohio and there's a rivalry between north and south Ohio. That's all. But in the end, I hope we make more inroads into VA. There's always elite talent in the state. But its usually in the southern part in the 757 area

You think Richmond is Northern Virginia? Uh, no, no, no. BTW, I live in Northern Virginia. There is no way anyone from Richmond now or ever will consider themselves Northern Virginians. Tidewater is Tidewater which is where this recruit is from. Not southern Virginia. Richmond and points south and west would be considered the "southern" part of the state. Northern Virginia is its' own thing and completely separate from the rest of the state. It begins around the Potomac/Occoquan rivers and a little south of those.

Back to the recruit.
